That was my first thought, but Pearce’s statement about a back three is what I’m considering.

Aside from us only having three centre backs, three at the back is not the worst shout for us. It mitigates Van Dijk struggling, it allows us to play with wing backs which will suit the two we’ve got, it means we can get away with having no fucking wingers, and allows us to pack the midfield which will be a help for Wirtz and Mac Allister.
PSG isn’t the game for this, but I wouldn’t mind seeing Robertson on the left of the back three. I’m not a fan of him at centre back, but we could really, really do with his leadership on the pitch right now.
Where I think it feels like desperation is turning to it with no time on the training pitch. I’d have felt more comfortable if we’d emerged from the international break in a new set up, rather than it looking like a reaction to getting twatted at the Etihad.
