Another game for Wirtz to ghost through doing nothing other than 5 yard passes.
Good lineup imo. Strong bench in theory. Maybe we can avoid conceding too many goals. Iāll take a loss by one goal.
If Slot is getting sacked, heās getting sacked his way. Heās not putting Mo out there to offer too little going forward to justify his liabilities in defense.
Perhaps heās going to try to park the bus, play on the counter, and hope we can have a shot in the return leg.

Absolutely the right call. Salah will be on later in the game, but we cannot justify carrying him at this stage.

Essentially they very similar things, with the wing-backs forming a back 5 during defensive phases. Scotland uses that formation with Robertson being left-back or left-wing dependent on whatās happening.

Yeah, I agree. Iād much rather see a 3ā4ā3 than sticking Frimpong out at right wing in our usual setup.

This is the same kind of system Wirtz plays in for Germany, and itās much closer to his role at Leverkusen. It could absolutely blow up, but I actually like that Slot is at least trying something different to shake us out of this malaise (even if heās been a big part of causing it). Credit where itās due for experimenting instead of doubling down on what hasnāt worked.

Iām surprised people have jumped to back 5 from that selection.Its possible, and maybe some of the commenters suggesting it have advanced info, but that is a much more drastic leap than simply having Gomez at RB and Frimpong in for Mo, both positions theyāve played plenty of times

Iāve always thought that buying Frimpong and Kerkez indicated that weād want to try a back 3 and use them as wingbacks. I think if we bought Guehi, that might have been our plan all along.
