We can only hope that the performance is a significant improvement on this thread so far.
Even the mighty Commando has been infected - ‘Alioli’?

We will win @Bekloppt regardless of this new manager Heinz Ravioli.
He’s a favourite with the kids. So expect a younger line up. Tea Time kick off.
I love that Turkish belly dance. Will they mesmerise us?
Gravenberch ruled out with a heel injury.
Interesting that this is only the first time we’re playing Fenerbahce in our histories. There wasn’t even a friendly between us.
I am not sure about the turkish league but do they get 2 teams in champions league and it is usually Besiktas and Gala?
I know we’ve played those sides Multiple times altogether. Not sure how often we’ve been in the same comp as Fener.
My one liner reflects how confident I am in this fixture.
They are shit. We’ll smash them.
I do not think this is an as easy match as it seems on paper.
Fenerbahce has assembled an interesting squad. A mixture of journeymen, good players that have lost their way, were once in the spotlight or at the twilight of their careers (but still play at a respectable level). Their home atmosphere tends to be as intimidating as it comes and our current crop of players do not seem to thrive in such environments. We also have injury issues to contend with, so will likely rotate in several bench players.
I hope the players can prove us wrong, but I am not as optimistic as some are in this thread.
Currently sixth in the Turkish league. Lost to Villa away 6-0 and Roma 2-1 the latter at home.
If we let them intimidate us then perhaps, if not we should win.
Indeed, I hadn’t noticed that. @Sithbare did a complete job there.
The thread can’t be moved as far as I’m aware, and will thus stay in this section.
The best thing about this game will be forgetting about the last game.
I think the poster who did it can, I am sure I did move one once.
Looks to be that way. @Sithbare, if you click on the edit title button, you should be able to change the section from “The Albert” to “The Albert. Match Days.”
No need for that anymore, I managed to change it myself. Cheers! ![]()
Apparently, AI was stuck in the Istanbul traffic. He eventually made it to the press conference:
-
Ryan Gravenberch, who has been ruled out of Wednesday’s game, “has some discomfort” in his heel so will be assessed day-by-day.
-
Iraola said 19-year-old Trey Nyoni “is doing very well” and they “trust him” to deliver when called upon. He added: “We have to encourage him to continue improving and learning.”
-
On what they can expect from Fenerbahce: “They have very good players in midfield and they have a very good technical level. If we allow them a lot of time on the ball and don’t press them properly then we will suffer.”
-
He said it is “going to be a very special” night in Istanbul but “it won’t be easy” because it never is for English teams that play there.
-
More from Iraola on Champions Legaue form: “We want to continue how we have done in the Champions League - three games and nine points. It is a good chance to get to 12 points and then finish in the top eight.”
-
On whether he asked Pro Ref for an explanation on the referee decisions against Arsenal: “I didn’t ask for an explanation. I told you what I think, but honestly I don’t have time. We’ve been preparing for this game, focusing on the opposition and how to prepare the team.”
One thing guarnteed Ronnie will not be intimidated and i doubt JJ or Virgil if he plays will either. ![]()
Given the weaker opponent… maybe experiment with Szoboszlai at the 10. Nyoni and Macca behind.
Just in case Wirtz ever has to miss any matches. We know who starts in his place.
