Diaz has done a really nice job there, but he also not really playing as a 9 when picked there. I know tactics can get a bit wanky when talking about āfalseā roles, but what we see of Diaz in that role is far more trying to pull their CBs out of position for the likes of Mo and Dom to exploit the spaces than it is a case of occupying the last defender like a 9. Whether that is what Slot wants in general so likes Diaz there, or has decided with the options we have up front it is the best approach for us is an open question, but it is pretty clear Darwin and Diaz are executing different game plans when picked

He said he felt something during the Forest game. It was not enough to come off, but is present enough they have to be sensible about managing. That can probably be taken either wayā¦doesnt seem like a big deal, but also doesnt bode well that he pick something up within minutes of coming into a game
