We haven’t done much wrong. They’re just a good side. I thought they were better than us over the first 40 minutes. I’m really impressed at how good they are in tight spaces.

I’m certain Taylor paid the penalty for the tackle on Diaz.
Had that challenge not happened, I assume that VAR would have again hid behind the ‘clear and obvious’ text given Taylor clearly saw the pull and didn’t think it was worthy of a pen?

If it’s a penalty, it’s a foul, and according to the rules, a red card?
Lucky to be ahead tbh. Midfield non-existent in the main. You could see their goal coming from a mile off, we’re really not good when being pressed by a team that knows how to do it.

Well I love Elliot to bits but I do agree with the comment suggesting subbing him off as Macca needs more protection…and I think it’s totally irrelevant with Gomez and certainly not a pathetic observation…

Took 40 mins for our defence and Ali to realize that Brighton wasn’t pressing until the ball came in the middle. They allowed the ball at Ali’s feet and wide left or right, and kept five players in a high position to press once it came into midfield. Without Thiago (and to some extent Curtis Jones) we are struggling to receive the ball in tight spaces.
Need to move the ball faster from the back.
Both of those fouls deserve a card. 
Until they scored nothing in it but since they scored we have been the better team.
Hope none of our traditional enemies look to poach De Zerbi, he looks an excellent coach, just look at their corners to icerload our zonal marking, some great innovation. Also you would look at the team list and you would pick our guys over theirs.
Just one thing on Mac for their goal, he wasn’t aware of their scorer as the pace of the pass from Virg, suggests that no one would be there

If so, he’s blind, and VAR have bottled it because they don’t want to send Gross off.

I really wish that VVD would get out of second gear. He sets the sloppy tempo that goes throughout the team. Very lucky to be in the lead and Klopp needs to give a few of them up the arse.
Rather interesting that there were no cards in that half. At least two of our guys got away with tactical fouls and the shirt pull for the penalty should have been at least a yellow- although some credit to the ref for initially playing advantage on that.
I wonder what the VAR were saying (other than “mate”)
