I am not remotely bothered about the last 4 games apart from seeing our fringe players getting some decent minutes. The results don’t matter. It’s done and we have won it…
Who remembers how many points we got in the 70s and 80s once we had clinched those titles?
Treat them as valuable experience and training sessions for the ones that don’t normally start. We rarely get the chance to experiment but here we have 4 games that don’t matter.
Well, I remember that in Paisley’s last season the players more of less downed tools after they won the league. They did have some rule back then about teams having to play their perceived A-team when fit. I think it was Spurs that put out a reserve side because they had a European fixture straight afterwards and they were fined.
Never heard about that Spurs story, but I do remember Middlesborough getting shafted by the P/L back in the mid 90’s when they had a number of injuries and illness meaning they had to put of a bunch of youngsters and got so harshly punished Bryan Robson said that it would have made more sense for them to have forefitted the game by not turning up
How many minutes into the game before these clowns start singing about Gerrard slipping. Be nice to see Endo, Elliott and others getting a decent amount of playing time, be nice to win but result don’t really matter we have what we wanted.
Not too fussed how we play against Chelsea. Arne will want them to be professional but you could forgive them for being a little dusty after last night.
However, I want them snarling again by the time Arsenal show up at Anfield. Go show those fucks this narrative of “we would have won if it wasn’t for injuries, refs, VAR, it being the Chinese year of the snake” or whatever other coping mechanism they comfort themselves with.
Bury them with a healthy dose of distain and make sure they know there’s no point coming back for more next season.
I don’t get all this nonchalance regarding our remaining fixtures. I always want us to win and I really want us to beat Chelsea and Arsenal, who are two teams that consider themselves our rivals. I want us to show them who’s boss.
I don’t expect us to take much risks with players who are not 100% (for example: Bradley, perhaps Konate, who didn’t seem totally fit in recent weeks), but whichever side is selected (I still expect close to our strongest XI, with more game time for certain players who haven’t played much or we are still unsure whether they will be here next season), it’s only right that we try and maintain a high level. End the season on a high and it’s already a little start of our title defence.
