You’re being optimistic. Do you realise what it’s going to take for one of these to see red? The occasion will rule, and give them licence to do whatever they like.
Must admit I’m not expecting much from this game. Everton are going to be absolutely feral. Pickford could literally bring a scalpel onto the pitch, disembowel Nunez, and Nunez would still be the one sent off. Wind gusts of 60mph+ will have Dyche nursing a stiffy for the ages.
Hopefully Everton get caught up in the occasion of the last derby at Goodison, and we pick them off.
The positive thing is that the game last night was a good intro into what we might ecounter on Saturday.
Everton are overall not as brave as Newcastle, even if Dyche isn’t all about parking the bus deep in all phases of the game. He combines also pushing high in some phases.
Thing is, we’ll see what’s our intensity like, because last night we did struggle a bit in pressing, duels, second balls, etc.
So the team should be more focused on more control, making the game we want to play and dictate.
Last game at Goodison provides a special opportunity for both sides, not only for them.
These are the games when you really show how big you are as a club and team.
Could live with a draw at Newcastle, but would hate to drop points against this lot. The injury situation, especially in defence, and loss of Macca are extremely concerning.
We’ve done well with a midfield of Gravenberch, Jones, and Szoboszlai so far, no reason to be concerned apart from the number of games all 3 of played so far and the lack of other options for the double pivot.
