Prematch - FA Cup 4th Round - Plymouth Argyle vs Liverpool FC - 15.00 - 9th February

McConnell seems to have overtaken Morton judging by the PSV game.

It will be nice to see some of the youngsters and current fringe players in action again. Looking forward to it! :+1:

Disappeared from my consciousness. He should start, shouldn’t he? Maybe you do Gomez at right back and drop him into defence.

Slot presser (looking groggy-eyed!)

  • Trent not available this weekend.
  • Still tricky cup game - it’s away, it’s “their” final etc.
  • Will still give playing time to players with little time.
  • General love in for van Dijk.
  • Loaded question about Bradley taking over from Trent. (Arne not falling for it)
  • Interesting question about work-life balance. Sounds like Arne takes it into account.
  • Likes players to get a good night’s sleep.
  • Another loaded question about quadruples. “We are in a good place.”
  • Don’t expect to win every game 4:0.
  • McConnell impressing in training.
  • Morton injured - shoulder injury. Weeks out.
  • Alisson just rested last night. No guarantee as to who starts.
  • Fringe players know that it is the team performance that counts.
  • Not complaining about Villa game being moved.
  • Larger subs bench would benefit England and academy players.
  • Happy to have nearly fully fit squad.
  • Darwin link-up play improved. No 9 position has improved.

Pfffft. Nobody asked him what his record is for hash browns eaten at Spoons.

Amateurs.

Well, I surely expect us to play some more FA cup games with Kelleher starting in goal. Maybe even some League games if we wrap it up early.

The hat, pen and paper about time these things came in useful. :grinning:

I believe no VAR at this stage?

Edit - I’ve added it to the opening post. Also, here is the VAR statement. Just from 5th round onwards:

Against Everton, I’d actually prefer to see some of those bone-crunching tackles from Bradley instead of casual jogging from Trent.

Wifes uncle lives in Cornwall (just outside Plymouth) - moved there a few years ago now. Massive Liverpool fan. He is a Plymouth Argyle season ticket holder and loves going the game with his mates. Hes only had good things to say about the club and loved their promotion season last season.

Hes going sunday with his daughter (also a massive Liverpool fan) and they will have to keep their mouths shut as hes in his usual seat and got his mates for his daughter in the Plymouth end

Sounds the same as when I was a teenager and my Dad took my brother and I to the occasional game there. Much better than Torquay (Plainmoor) or Exeter (St James Park).

I’ve been a couple of times it’s been a nice day out and the crowd can be pretty decent. Issue down there is rain but it doesn’t seem to be an issue this weekend.

I agree. We need him for the derby.

Not worth the risk if we are unsure about Trent.

Yeah well, sliding tackles all over the pitch are sometimes one thing and defending close/inside the box in a quality way is another. I’m not trying to 100% defend Trent here, but Bradley will also have to prove himself, it’s not like he’s “perfect” defensively because of a few legendary tackles. Maybe he will get that chance to prove it on a regular basis if Trent leaves.

Shame Morton is injured and out for 4-6 weeks.
Kelleher, Bradley, Gomez, Quansah, Tsimikas, Elliott, Endo, McConnell, Chiesa, Nunez, Diaz.

Jota can replace Diaz at ht.
