It was indeed a over in a lifetime shot. Maybe nothing could’ve been done about it, but someone has to close down. He had all the time in the world to either shoot, albeit a low xG shot, or cross the ball in.

You mentioned 3 CB’s which you would expect would be in the box for a cross and wouldn’t be expected to be pressuring the shot, it comes down to the midfielders or forwards.

Watching replay, the only one close enough to close him down is Chiesa. Perhaps could have made more of an effort. Blaming the CBs is ridiculous when you watch it again

When we equalized, Fulham started having a good spell and made many changes to inject freshness. We needed to match that.

Blaming the CBs is ridiculous yes, it was the midfielders fault. Absolutely zero reason to have all of them in the penalty area. Just a small amount of pressure and we win the game, but we went scared and put everyone back as far as possible.
Reed has hit a worldie but we can’t expect a Premier League player to incapable of doing that. Given how deep everyone was there was also a good chance had he mishit it then it pinballs around the penalty area and finds a way in.
There is a reason teams press. Zero pressure at all 25 yards from goal is crazy.

There is a universe where the players charge out the close that down, the ball ends up in the box, and there is a pile on because we didn’t have players back defending the space.
