PreMatch | Girona vs Liverpool | CL Matchday 6 | Tuesday December 10th 17:45h

A late afternoon kick off against Girona. The Catalans are at a peak in their history but struggling in the Champions League with just 3 points after 5 games compared to our 15. They are currently 7th in La Liga.

We will be without Mac Allister who has exceeded his tactical foul limit in the competition. Alisson and Jota are back in training for us but it is unclear whether they will travel for this match.

A win will see us guaranteed a place in the last 16 and avoid the play-offs. Hopefully Slot will aim to finish this on the night.

FFS. Fixed. Serves me right for nicking the format from the Everton thread.

GMT assumed, obviously.

Not necessarily. We need to hope that other results go our way this week to guarantee skipping the playoffs, if that is even possible this week. In fact, I don’t believe we can secure a top eight finish this week, no matter what.

Slightly smaller than Prenton Park. That can create a great atmosphere, depending on how vocal their fans are.

Pretty sure a win would mean we have Top8 in the bag because some teams in the current Top10 will play against each other.

And as soon as that is done I hope Slot plays as many kids as possible in the two remaining games in January.

Yeah I read somewhere a win guarantees it.

Unless someone’s maths is crap.

We are on 15 points. The teams between 6th and 12th are all on 10 points so a win makes it a mathematical certainty and a point is probably enough but I can’t be arsed working out all the permutations. We could probably lose a three games and qualify, but I’d rather we put this to bed until March.

Three of those on 10pts or more have to play 2 of those on 10pts or more.

Which would probably suggest a point is enough.

Monaco have to play 3 of the top 10 :see_no_evil:

Yes, I tried to work it out, but my beer to braincell ratio isn’t particularly favourable at the moment.

Oh we’ve just got to do these buggers over - purely on principle. It was their own choice to go over to the dark side. No one forced them to accept the devil’s bargain. Sheeeeyat…

Fuck, didn’t know McAllister was suspended for this one too.

I think we’ll go strong, seems to be Slot’s way, but surely Robbo, Gravenberch and VVD should be rested?
Not sure who could play LB if Gomez plays CB but someone has to to give Robbo a few more days off.
A midfield of Endo, Szoboslai and Elliott with Salah, Nunez and Diaz up top.
Make full use of the 5 subs regardless of how the match is going. Fulham on Saturday is far more important.

Don’t think any of the available players will need to be rested after the week off or because we play Fulham 4 days after Girona.
