Hopefully fit enough to come on for Virjil on 60 or so, depending what the game state is.
He said something about Dom being in yesterday but might not be ready to start. Must have been a heavy cold. Hopefully had Goulash to get him warm and fight it off.
Yeah, Jota starting up top tonight makes most sense, after a few games of rather coming on. He has experience of being a difference maker in League Cup SFâs in London.
All I ask for is no Robbo or Trent. Thatâs it. Is that too much?
& maybe to see Endo and Chiesa.
& maybe takeâŚat least a 3 goal lead back to Anfield.
But thatâs it.
Oh & maybe not start the first half looking like weâve just woken up in the middle of the night because we realised we forgot to take the bins out.
I have a theory, that Slot has been learning the League up until Sundayâs game (I include Sundayâs game even though he faced a team he had faced before, because it was set up totally different, and with a different coach).
Only Everton is still to get to know, as far as Slot is concerned.
So my theory is based on how transformative the team has been in most second halves of the games so far, indicating that Slot may had studied the opponents from videos well enough to be in a good position to compete in the game by half time, but only by seeing them live and actually face them, was he able to read exactly what was needed to beat them.
And that this wonât be the case from now on during this season (aside Everton), so I am hoping that we will see much better first halves and better results as well. I hope other factors wonât balance it out (injuries, refs, any sort of unsettling in the squad etc., other teams being improved from when we last faced them - or player(s) that was/were missing returning etc.).
This is one game where I am not so sure this difference will apply too much, as will be the case with any game that will not feature starters. Unless Slot doesnât rotate too much (he said he wouldnât, but letâs see), then maybe we will already see this in effect tonight.
I think itâs worth giving Trent this one.
He is going to miss Accrington obviously. I want to see how he responds, against a good team, before we go to Forest. This game is perfectly timed, in that it doesnât really matter if we donât win, but itâs a good level to have a look at a few things. Including can we trust Trent against Forest.
Can we trust him against Forest? Heâs our vice captain for crying out loud, this shouldnât even be a question.
Heâs also a professional, wellâŚsupposed to beâŚor rather when he decides to be, so whether heâs tasked with starting tonight, Accrington, Forest or the last game of the season, weâll be looking for a positive response. Why that needs to come before Forest, I donât quite know. Heâll have plenty of games left, and Iâm sure theyâll be plenty of upsâŚand downs.
For now I see more reasons why Bradley should get the nod in the next 2.
Of course it should. The lad is only human. Calling him vice captain doesnât mean he is immune from personal abuse raining down on him from the stands.
What we need to see tonight, and why he should start, is a reaction from Trent. Not the kind of reaction where he stands in midfield pinging increasingly ambitious passes, but a calm, assured and diligent performance that shows Sunday was a one off.
If it wasnât a one off, then we have a problem.
Trent has to start after his non-performance on Sunday and also Bradley is just returning from injury.
Iâm going blame the ball tonight if they are shit.
Take your pick. Trent or the ball. Enough blame to go around.
Donât forget whichever poster joins in the match thread just as things start to go pear-shaped.
Letâs hope you didnât just start that because you are an easy target for finger pointing (not from me of course)
You can all blame me as much as you like. I really donât care.
Me thinks you protest too much.
Hence. You care.
I think you canât spell âmethinksâ properly.
Numpty.
After convincing myself we were going to beat Utd 27-0 iâve had to have a rethink on my expectations of this team.
For that reason im going 8-0 Liverpool
You clearly care enough to improve my English usage.
Such an old softie
