PreMatch | Liverpool - Manchester City | PL Matchday 11 | Sunday October 16th 16:30h | Anfield

Pretty good half from our lads. Working their asses off to compete, but for a few loose Firmino touches/passes we could have a few more chances on goal. Some ropey defensive moments but that is to be expected against this side, Gomez and Milner have both been solid.

Our best game since the charity Shield so far.:woozy_face:

Generally pretty good. Limited them to little. However, Iā€™d like us to win more of the second balls.

Three or four moments where players made brilliant moves to get into those positions

Jota, Elliott have been immense. The rest have put a really good shift as well. VVD looking more dominating, Gomez alert and except the Haaland chance not much went through him. Fabinho can up his game maybe a notch up but nothing concerning. Keep the same shape and pressure and we have hope.

The secret to watching James Milner. Low expectations. He exceeded them this half.

This couldā€™ve been the one game Salah wouldā€™ve got chances from his wide right position. Elliotā€™s finding lots of space but he isnā€™t quick enough to exploit it. Can see the switch being made in the second half at some point.

Precisely. He gave a tiny amount of room behind for De Bruyne to drop the ball into that still required him shooting from a tight angle. Had he done more to cut off that ball it, as you say, leaves room for Halaand to cut back in front of him and get on the ned of a much more dangerous cross.

Sometimes defending is about picking the least dangerous way to be beaten and forcing them to try to score form those lesser positions (see the famous Van Dijk play against Spurs on the 2-1 a few years ago).

No seems about it. Itā€™s normal.

Taylor looking right at Rodri going through the back of Salah. Nothing to see here. Let $hitty through to the box.

Not too bad, though they have had more posession and chances.
We started well, but faded a little, City look a bit more willing to fight for the second ball.
A bit of a kick up the arse from Jurgen and perhaps Nunez can come on and show what heā€™s capable of.

Milner has done pretty well.

Try as I may, never enjoy these games vs City

Robo, Firmino and Jota need to get into it on, a lot more than they are! Everyone else seems to be on it - at least more than the average for this season.

Weā€™re leaving a bit of room in the middle as we are afraid of compressing the game too much - which is fine as long as everyone stays on script.
.

Very good half from Liverpool. Also very good half from City who perhaps looks like scoring more, but the truth is that we are not in the best form and we still have, mostly, nullified their attack, while manage to threaten ourselves. Given where we are this season and who we are playing against, how can we not be pleased ?
Milner my man for some brilliant interventions and wise movement so far, but Jota and Elliot has been excellent and Salah good as well.

Entertaining and our boys do their very best. Got to applaud the first half.

KDB been a bit quiet so far, long may it continue.

But that would mean Salah having to track back and support Milner. It will then allow $hitty to push the left side further up.

Maybe Henderson around 60 min can free Salah to that side when Darwin also comes on.

Theyā€™ve had a few dangerous situations but weā€™ve done well to somewhat disrupt their supply to Haaland, thatā€™s going to be difficult to do for the next 45. City may be the best team, but unlike pretty much everyone else who sits in a low block, they will usually let you play, the question is how much they can damage you going the other way.

If I may be brave, at the 60th minute, maybe TAA for Milner? and tell TAA to just stay at the right hand side. Venture forward only when Elliott needs help. No need to go infield and what not.

No need to do much with subs yet. Weā€™ve played well and given them real problems. We have a couple who may struggle to last the game, specifically Jota and Elliott so lets let them run themselves out and then make the changes we want to see when those guys need to come off
