Said the exact same thing to my lad.

The Coote/Tierney combo fills me with dread. Think I’m right in saying this is the first game this season where Tierney has been involved. Strange that given he had a role to play every other week when Jurgen was here.

If we can get through this with another 3 points we’ll have done insanely well since the last international break. When we came back from the last one the fixture list was fucking obscene - Chelsea, Leipzig, Arsenal, Brighton home and away, Leverkusen and Villa. Genuinely thought we might win a few, draw 2 and lose 2. To have achieved the results we have is bordering on unbelievable. It actually gets harder after the next break with Real, City, Newcastle and the blueshite in the space of 10 days but we’re building a little buffer between the chasing pack. If we’re still top after those fixtures I’ll probably have to re-consider my expectations.

Having one just makes that whole thing even more depressing.

Two boys club refs and it took the IT kid to spot the issue.

I’m sure that Arne and his team will know the personnel, formation and tactics to see us through this game. COYR YNWA :+1:

Just saw the Mings incident.
He did it a match too soon. Too bad he won’t do that again

Something tells me he won’t be starting against us to do it.

Time for us to lay the marker down.

We’ve had wins in the league. But against this team , we need to start the match well too. Emery is a great coach , and recent results notwithstanding, he’s got a good top 4 team.

Doesn’t matter if we rotate a bit more against Real. Our match against City is far more important.

Playing at 8pm on the Saturday night is an absolute bitch having played on the 5th. I’ll keep the reason to myself but some of you know.

Will be in the pub after work, can’t wait! Should be a good tough game against a really decent team. Mo upto the ocky please with a Darwin masterclass at decoy runs, feints and general chaos. VVD winning header on 89 minutes.

My confidence level just dipped down after seeing the referee’s list.

Unfortunately, regardless of a potential handball.

If we turn up ready to play football in the first half, we’ll twat them.

If not, we’ll beat them 2-1 with two second-half goals.

Hope you are doing well Commando. Seems your posting has gone down. You are missed! Have you seen the eejits in here? We need to up the quality.

Best wishes to you and yours. Although I hope your wife has a frustrating time of it this weekend, as Brighton beat her precious Man City :grinning:

My take on this one? I think it will be a tough game. Villa are a good side, and they are in a bit of a mini slump in the league - three draws and one defeat in the last five. Even then, they are still within touching distance of the top four.

Emery is a very good manager, and he will relish the challenge, as a tactician, of setting up his team to get something at Anfield.

I am as delighted as everyone else by our great start to the season. Ideally I’d like to see us start a bit faster, as the habit of regularly going behind needs to be consigned to the dustbin. I do think a small part of it is Slot’s tactic. Obviously he doesn’t want his team to go behind, but I think he sends us out in a measured way to not panic and sort of ease ourselves into the game, see what they’ve got, and then grow in authority as we go. On the evidence so far, one of Slot’s strongest attributes is in reading the game being played right in front of him, and then making telling adjustments in the heat of battle.

I am fascinated by his choice to play Diaz in a central role midweek, and it paid off handsomely. I expect Darwin Nunez to get the nod again in this one, but Slot is finding options we didn’t even know we had.

I’m going for 3-1 Liverpool. Salah. Nunez. Big Virg. Watkins for them.

Nah; I’ll be at Spoons. Got to get there before he does, or there’ll be no hash browns left.
