PreMatch | Liverpool vs Brighton | FA Cup Round 4 | Saturday February 14th 20:00 GMT

Time to discuss our FA Cup 4th Round tie vs Brighton and Hove Albion.

I’m probably going to miss this as I really can’t justify DAZN fees for one game. It will be on TNT Sport in the UK. No idea what that is, but I’m sure you will get a bang for your bucks.

Officials:

  • Referee: Stuart Attwell
  • Assistant Referees: Constantine Hatzidakis & Lee Betts
  • Fourth Official: Adam Herczeg

There is no use of VAR across the 4th round fixtures, so it is all down to the officials. As far as I know, only one of them has twatted one of our players.

I’m assuming that there will be some rotation, but with a decent break until the next game there is something to be said for keeping some players fresh, particularly since Soboszlai missed the last game through suspension.

Slot’s pre-match press conference will be at 09:00 GMT tomorrow:

Hoping for no injuries. Good thing is we have more than a week to prepare for the match against Forest.

I had stated that I did not care for competitions beyond the PL but ultimately the two are linked in that a head of steam gained with the FA cup or the CL, could help the broader cementing of the structure we are striving for.

I hope we play the strongest team available and beat Brighton!

This has become a distraction for me this season. If its on somewhere ill watch it.

I just checked, and it isn’t on German telly at all.

I’ll read this thread after the match.

I’m dreaming of a cup double this season. And you can’t stop me.

I thought we were at home for this. I reckon it’s a case of go big or go home.

Well what can I say?
An opportunity for some different players?

Me now: Going out here is not the end of the world. We have to get fourth place, we’re still in Europe and a cup run might be an unnecessary distraction.

Me 8pm Saturday: NO FUCKING MERCY LIVERPOOL. SMASH THESE CHIP STEALING BASTARDS!!!

I’d play a semi strong side and I assume Brighton will do the same.

Though they have nothing to lose going all for it. They won’t go down and they are two wins off the pace for Europe.

We won’t go anywhere near as weak as the Carabao Cup side, but I expect there will be some rotation. The way we’ve played this season means that even with a strong side anything can happen. Still, it would be nice to have a good cup run, and ideally win some silverware, the bigger the better.

Win the FA cup or CL and at least 4th in league, will be a good enough return despite the horrendous run we have.

Although I think we shouldn’t dismiss the FA Cup, this game is an opportunity for some rotation. So, maybe like this:
Mamardashvili,
Ramsay, Gomez, Virg, Kerkez (then play Robbo in the next league game)
Jones, Dom, Nyoni
Chiesa, Gakpo, Rio

If that were the line-up, then I would expect to see Alexis, Hugo and Mo make 2nd half appearances.

Start Mama, Jones and Rio but otherwise keep it the same. 8 days until the next game so there’s no need to rotate.

didnt realise there was eight days until next game

if Slot hasnt given the lads the next 6 days off for wellbeing, then i hope we play a full strength team this weekend… give it everything…i love the FA cup when we win it … suprisingly we are not that successful in the competition given our history…so yeah… gimme that shiny pot.
