Generally I find Pawson fine. Not one of the worst in my view.

Least it’s not Oliver and Kav on VAR

Rodri coming out blasting the referee in their last game, is now likely to bring pressure on this one in our game. They are not called The Cheaters for no reason

Yeah this would be my concern, bunch of knob cheeses.

My thoughts exactly. Rodri knew what he was doing in that interview.

Well we will see come Sunday, won’t we. Not really a mid season break is it, having a week break between games and it’s not like they’re stuck in the club digs all season through to make time and needing day passes to go out once every two weeks for an afternoon.

We’ve had the best week of the season, Slot’s had the pressure release on him a bit with one of the toughest fixtures on the calendar next and players are… away on a break. Not quite sure how to process that to be completely honest.

i do.

i reckon its shite.

anyone mocking me for holding that opinion can do one aswell…

before going too far down the road, it would be interesting to know what amount of time we are talking here…if Macca flew to barca for a night , then no worries…if he took off on sunday morning and is coming back friday arvo to check his emails for sundays tactics…then, yeah…shite.

pushing out miles on a treadmill not gonna cut it either.

I do tend to agree. Just feel that in the middle of a difficult season the time could have been better spent. There’s a lot to be said for taking time off and relaxation, this is not one of those times in my opinion.

Will we, is that the only factor that decides our performance? Is it one that is so easy to see with the naked eye?

A week break, where did you read that? They played on Saturday night and are playing Sunday afternoon. I guess they got Sunday and Monday off, perhaps Tuesday. It’s not unusual to get two days off in a free week, regardless of the season you’re having. They had more than a month of constant football and we’ll have a tough week ahead.

There is Slot, doing his press conferences on Thursday morning, for a game that is on Sunday afternoon. Usually it would be a Friday.

Best week we can argue about that, but then what would happen if it was a shit week? Do you do this when it’s a good week, a shit week or you don’t do it at all?

I mean, there are things we can have an amateur opinion on and that’s our right, but when it comes to schedules and days off (and where the squad is in terms of data), can we seriously question that? What should they do, train and train even more and when they cannot train, talk and talk even more?

Slot Press Conference (Missed this live).

  • Question one about Jacquet, I think: model for club is signing - young and talented.
  • Frimpong out for Sunday. Gomez may be available.
  • City game: We were outplayed at their ground so we will see what progress has been made at Anfield.
  • Newcastle performance after first 30 minutes: Good performance but not our best this season. First 30 not so good.
  • What did Arne like about the performance (vs Newcastle): Good off the ball. High press. Individual performances better.
  • Wirtz fitness: Needs to keep playing as his fitness improves in matches. Off ball improvement and getting to know his teammates.
  • How does Slot see team development: Very good players but team is developing. Can compete with any team but not always consistent.
  • Young centre backs coming in: Club does everything for a reason. Virg still with us at the moment but we are planning for long term replacement.
  • Curtis Jones role and future: He has played a lot of minutes. Not as many as some because few injuries in his positions. Situation hasn’t changed.
  • The inevitable Hungarian question about Kerkez: Progress with more games played. Best still to come.
  • First 30 minutes against Newcastle: Slot was surprised by City vs Newcastle game. Completely different against us. City is about ball possession. We had fewer counter-attacks vs Newcastle. Set piece defending more of a concern.
  • Curtis contract: (Slot avoided questions about contract).

TLDR: Gomez available, Frimpong out. City at Anfield on Sunday.

These players have people who can organize very quickly a trip for a day, two or three. It’s another reason why they decide to live close or not far enough from major airports.

Where did we read that they’re back on Friday? Slot just did his press conference this morning.

To have Sunday off after playing late Saturday night would be the absolute minimal required regardless of circumstances. Monday off as well would be normal in a free week until Sunday afternoon and then Tuesday it would be up for discussion.

In that case (and I’m not even sure if they got Tuesday off), you still get 4 days of training.

I didn’t mean that they had a week off. It’s reads as having a week between games is hardly a mid season break. There’s switching on and switching off and switching back on again. Really no need to that with the season we’ve had and yes, the best week we’ve had in the context of all the negativity and doubts about the performance level even when we won the first 5.

While this will not be only factor in deciding how our performance pans out, I have had major concerns about our conditioning this season, physically and mentally, and having just seem the green shoots in result as well as performative, I think it’s I’ll timed.

This would not be unusual a few times per season regardless of the season a team is having.

A day off is minimal, two can be very normal and then a possible third (I don’t even know how much they got, there are no articles reporting of discussing that?) might be up for discussion, depending on the context.

Different combinations of that is more than enough for players to go somewhere, especially if it was no further than Europe based. When they take/post pictures though, who knows.

And yes, I share the question whether we had a good pre-season purely in terms of physical preparation. Which can go right or wrong regardless of squad changes (but objectivelly the more there is, it makes the task a bit more complex).

Slot said a few months ago that the team’s physical data is fine and where it should be. There’s that, though we wouldn’t expect him to say anything else, would we. Who knows where we are now and there’s mental fatigue also.

I’d say there are more chances for this exactly after a good week, in this situation between late Saturday and Sunday afternoon, with not a large first team squad as it is. It could have a positive impact on the players, a bit of rest and reset mentally.

What about Sunday?

Play fast attacking football and we win no problem. If we play slow boring negative football we draw or lose.
