PreMatch | Liverpool vs Qarabağ | CL League Stage Game #8 | Wednesday January 28th 20:00 GMT

The question from that Hungarian clown was “are you considering playing Dom at RB?”.

Slot naturally responded that he’s considering everything, referring to the fact that Szobo is one of our more versatile players. But that he and the player talk and agree he’s best in midfield.

As for the RB spot, he said he has Frimpong, but also Dom and Curtis can do a job there.

As for the RW spot, he said he has Salah and another option (my guess if it’s only two options at the moment and Dom is fit, it could be him, because otherwise we also have Chiesa, who might be still out).

I would hope the experiment from Istanbul with Dom at RB and Frimpong at RW is not something we’ll see very often anymore.

I was just going on the summary I got from the BBC. I do find that some of the questions during European press conferences are completely irrelevant. I think the one before the Real Madrid match was just Spanish journalists wanting to discuss La Liga.

Yeah, that’s why I said yesterday that a lot of stuff is missing from those textual highlights.

Written and reported like that, it can sound like Slot is closest to picking Dom at RB tonight, while when you watch/listen to the thing, the question and answer was more detailed and leaves another, more balanced and open impression. I know Hungarians and all of us probably want to hear “Dom will never be asked to cover at RB ever again”, but this season at least, that answer is not realistic.

And that Hungarian guy is always there (regardless of the CL), I’ve written about him here in last weeks.

I understand, being from a similarly smaller country, having players at such a big club is a big media pull, it attracts attention, interest and clicks. We had that with Croatian players at Tottenham 15 years ago or so. There was almost always a Croatian journalist on duty. Questions that were mostly stupid, just to get something in Croatian media the following day(s). The amount of farts they had during the week or whatever.

I understand also that all the Hungarian journalist wants to talk is our Hungarian players. But then the quality of those questions can be really poor, almost childish at times.

He asked recently “are you going to start Kerkez or Robertson?”.

Yeah like Slot is gonna answer you that, what do you even get out of that question? Absolutely nothing.

A hard one and only can be treated on an individual basis.

Another hard one, Jota’s kit in the dressing room does this need changing?

Reasoning Ibou comes back see’s Jota’s kit and it is only reasonable it brings back more emotions.

I thought it was a great point of respect but I am having 2nd thoughts as what ongoing consequences it may have for some, I know if it was me it would spur me on but others aren’t me.

Yeah its not ideal, but it was a perfectly acceptable solution under those circumstances and is the sort of adaptation teams often have to work through in a season. Utd have won titles with Michael Carrick playing games at CB

My team would be

Alisson
Frimpong Endo Virgil Kerkez
Gravenberch Jones
Szoboszlai Wirtz Gakpo
Ekitike

I think Endo should keep that centre back place - he did well. I wouldn’t start Salah or Mac Allister, although I would expect them to get 20-30mins.

Go back a few years before and i’m sure they had to play Neil Webb there, but cant remember if they won the league then.

He went back to forest the year Fergie won his first

Qarabag are no mugs. They gave Chelsea a hard time and drew with them and they beat Benfica.
I wouldn’t dismiss them lightly.

On the pitch at Anfield. Anyone’s guess aside from that.

Easy, Frimpong RB, Gravenberch RCB, Szobo deeper alongside Mac.

Where’s Jones?!

Not keen on the makeup of that side at all.

I know Slot hasn’t managed his resources well, but for fucks sake look at that bench. How the hell has this happened.

Where the eff is Jones?

Is Jones injured?

A week or so ago there was some (to my mind silly) speculation that Spurs were interested in Jones. I hope his absence is nothing to do with that. :frowning:
