Which is something we seem incapable of doing. Allowing teams back into games seems to be our speciality this season.
Or it could be āpants on fireāā¦the Lazurus syndromeā¦
I donāt see the overreaction you are referring to, as a) I believe we will go on to win the league, and b) Iām just stating the math:
I only said that if we get 4 points from the next two games (City and Newcastle), the difference that is up to us goes to 3, and given that we play each other, it will then be as much in our hands as it will be in theirs.
(And I added that if Arsenal gives up any points in their next three games, it all of course changes, but that it is not up to us).
Where you see the overreacting I canāt understand.
Maybe youāre overreacting a bit?
Factually incorrect. We can get draws against both City and Newcastle, and even if Arsenal win their next three, we would still be a point clear. A win and a draw in the next two is even better.
None the less - I want 6 points from the next two, to keep a healthy gap to Arsenal.
Hoping for Arsenal to do us favours, when theyāre eight points behind us, isnāt overreacting?
But thatās not what I said, and itās strange to see from you taking something out of context.
Letās break this down. Weāre 8 points ahead with a game more. If we get 4 points from City and Newcastle, weāre 12 points ahead, with 3 games more than what Arsenal has currently played. Meanwhile, of course, Arsenal will play these three games, and if, as you say they donāt do us any favours, the gap once they get their 9 points will be 12-9=3. With them playing us, itās as much in their hands from that point on, as it is in ours, given that whoever wins all their games is on top. Granted, theyād be level if they beat us, but it remains a question how much the goal difference will be by then.
The āIf Arsenal do us any favours all this changes of courseā was a future reference if we donāt win these two games, not applying now, where itās still totally in our hands. And āifā and āhopeā is the same thing, and if you still donāt understand that sentence, then Iām not sure what more I can say, maybe I need to retake my English lessons.
Is anything I said above wrong? Would be happy to be corrected. Like I said, I expect us to go on and win it, and I do expect Arsenal to drop points too, just to be clear.
I think my reply to Cynnie explains what I said, no need to repeat it here. I still donāt understand how itās not clear. What you say is true, but you donāt understand what I meant.
Fair enough. However, i still believe that that and āa draw is not fineā come across as a bit panic-stricken, even if that wasnāt your intention.
I would say ātad worriedā rather than āpanic-strickenā is a more accurate description of how itās supposed to come across. Anyway, glad itās clear what I meant, I started worrying more about my English than for the game vs City.
And the ātad worriedā is only because I think it was maybe a bit easier to win the two games we drew (especially in the manner that we drew them), than to have to beat City and Newcastle back to back, whereas had we won the two games we drew, Iād be much more ok getting a point against either of City or Newcastle. But ok, whatās done is done and Iām still hoping they will prove to be two good points, Arsenal got a draw there too anyway.
Letās beat City now, thatās all we can do for now!
Not clear, because 2+2 isnāt 3ā¦albeit I now see that youāre not talking about actual maths, and just theoretical birds in the hand and bush stuff.
Well, if you are jumping on the 2+2 isnāt 3 bandwagon, good luck with that!
Iām hoping that Arne and his team are demonstrating to our forwards what a goal net is for. We have had plenty of opportunities to win the last few games comfortably, just not the gumption on the final touch.
Just keep it tight at the back and we should be able to fluke a goal somewhere.
Yep.
We really should be the leagues top scorers.
Oh, waitā¦
What is it about our recent performances that makes you think that we can twat anybody, let alone the cheaters? We struggled against Wolves at Anfield.
Itās going to be a wide-open affair.
Different team, different tactics.
Wolves defended deep - we struggled
Everton defended deep - we struggled
Villa attacked us - and we looked much better last night
City wonāt look to sit back against us - suits us.
Wolves didnāt sit back in the second half. Neither did Villa after the first 15-20 minutes in each half. Everton pressed us without respite partly thanks to Oliverās indulgence. As shit as City have been, they are still better than all of these.
I see no reason to believe that this is going to be anything other than a struggle.
If recent form is anything to go byā¦ scoring two goals away from home should be sufficient to secure points from the away groundā¦ Score two again on Sunday, again it should be enough to grab another point or threeā¦ I will take it
Wolves pressed and attacked when behind, Villa pressed and attacked when behind and we struggledd in both.
When Wolves defended deep we scored 2 goals.
Just read redarmadaās post saying the same
