Said it earlier in the thread and I’ll say it again, we need a statement win away from home - it seems like a long time since we had one.
Should have done it at Forest but didn’t take our chances, should have done it in the derby but didn’t (although Oliver had a big say in that) and should have done it at Villa and gone 10 points clear.
It’s time to show every cunt we mean to see this through.
So basically Jones and Haaland to play.
Spoiler Alert.
We drop points here. Slot gets a one match ban vs Newcastle and we drop points again.
Ladies and gentlemen we finally have a close title race this season.
Alternative ending:
They are shite, as they have been all season, and we smash them.
I’d sort of rather him miss a home game as we can use the crowd.
Also you keep saying these and they don’t change anything.
So are KdB and the Nord playing or not? Have seen so many up/down/around/through projections.
Further to saying it seems a long time since we had a statement away win in the Prem (and because I’m a sad cunt) I took a look at our last 50 away matches at sides that finished in the CL qualification spots (including the 2 this season at Forest and Arsenal who are 2nd and 3rd right now) and it makes pretty grim reading.
P 50
W 9
D18
L23
GF 62
GA 97.
We have kept 5 clean sheets in those 50 matches.
Means fuck all come Sunday of course but it just re-affirms what worries me about us, we just don’t grind out those wins in the big away games.
Doesn’t look great but are you a sad enough cunt (like me) to explain how far back this record takes us - is it 12+ years?
It’s over 12 years but it’s a pretty constant theme, even to the present we have only win 1 of the last 12 and that was at Newcastle.
The best period was when we were racking up 90+ points between 2018-2021 when we won 4 out of 10.
I think the most damning thing is the goals conceded, fractionally under 2 a game.
Like I said it means fuck all on Sunday but it’s not a great record.
The thing is we don’t need “a statement” win, any win at this point counts the same.
With us statement results usually precede a shit result.
I would same a win regardless of what it is would boost it. Feels like the wind has been knocked out a bit. Odd as the first half against Wolves and some of the Villa game was still very good from us.
Sunday . Why oh why
Because that’s generally when they’ve taken place since about 1994.
Like @WeeJoe’s take on this better than a lot of others.
We can pull this off,if we can get back to what we know we can do,notwithstanding Taylor who will do his best to be Citehs 12th body on the park.
Did you have a picnic planned? Frisbee with Biscuit in the park? Tap dancing lessons?
Unfortunately for poor @Iftikhar I believe the Bangladeshi weekend is Friday and Saturday, as it is in much of the Muslim world.
Our working days are Sunday-Thursday. However, the game starts at 10:30 PM Bangladesh time, and I might just make it from work.
Guess McConnell’s not likely to make the bench for this one then.
