All going on about Rio v Gakpo, Rio doesn’t make any runs he is too static and is easy to mark, needs to learn more craft for me.

Fair. The point is not that Virgil SHOULD have but that in tat situation we have to be able to find a way to offer that help. You cannot bank your defensive scheme on something as straight forward as “can your LB outrun their RW in a straight 70m sprint.”
Either we learn the new system and see it through, or we can just throw it in the bin after 45 minutes of it not working out? It’s going to take time; the players still have too many old, ingrained habits. It’ll come together eventually.

You have to be tricky or very very quick to get round him and so far Rio hasn´t looked either of those. A few stepovers isnt it. Give Muñoz a go.

I love Rio, but he’s raw and still quite limited and even more so on the right. He shouldn’t be starting just yet, but alas we’re short on the right, haven’t seen much of Munoz, but surely he is worth a go at some stage in the second half.

Precisely! That was pretty stupid from Hughes..His transfer policy of chasing the biggest names in the market rather than doing proper squad building has cost us very dearly in time and money…His biggest buys are so far not producing at all for 2 different head coaches.
Good riddance to a rubbish DOF…So damn glad to see the back of him after this season.

My thoughts exactly. He needs to pick up experience from the bench. Be an impact player for now before slowly being integrated into a starting place if shines.
And Newcastle have been worth praise. The two in midfield in particularly effective, especially without the ball.
