Hopefully that closes the discussion over whether the club was right to sell him, turns out it was driven from Jones’ side.

I guess there’s still debate over whether it was due to feeling undervalued in terms of playing time and/or salary, wanting to be a regular starter or perhaps having his time at the club soured during Slot’s reign, but I guess we’ll never know for sure unless CJ opens up about his reasons at some point in the future. I’d suggest that, until that happens, speculating about it here is probably pointless.

Bit hard to judge especially with the Eddie Howe change even without the fact it’s Liverpool.

I did assume that it was his decision. I’m sad to see him go, and there seems to be a lot of mean spirited vitriol aimed at him from supposed fans. I always liked him as a player, I hope he does well for the rest of his career.

That’s a dangerous thread to start pulling on, you’ll send the whole forum into an existential crisis about the futile nature of fandom

Well, ok, to clarify a little, I guess speculation is fine, but try to avoid constructing elaborate theories and assigning blame to particular parties based purely on your own assumptions and suspicions.

This will be the line-up. I think the weaknesses are glaring, but that side is eminently capable of beating a weakened Geordie outfit

These have lost key players. Tonali, Guimaraes and Gordon. Joelinton is out so we don’t need to worry about his 10 free bookable fouls every match. Big Dan Burn a doubt. Lots of new faces.
We have a chance here.

Oh glad Joelinton is out that’s a 60% foul rate gone if you include Gumaries.

The yellow card resistant Joelinton being out is a massive boost for us.

I’m sure that Andoni and his team will know the personnel, tactics and formation to see us through this game. COYR YNWA :+1:

Hey Isak, dunno if you heard with your earphones plugged in….but some 12 year old girl thinks you’re a wanker lad.

Ok, this is the naivety of the new season, the hope replacing despair. The sweet spot where all teams are on the same level…

Well, Arsenal look like they’re the ones to beat. Good squad, as someone said without any real standout stars like we had with VVD, Salah etc.
Maybe they’re functionality will be enough though. Chelsea made a lot of signings, City look weaker without Rodri, Utd and Spurs had poor starts.

So, today. I’m excited to see us return to a style of football. I mean, it cannot be as poor stylistically or tactically? We probably still need three signings for the season, but with what we have today we should have a right go at Newcastle.

2-0. Isak and Rio.

All a bit sad though, isn’t it? Such rage from what sounds like a young teenager, 13 maybe? My son’s age. But hey, bantz.

During puberty, a sense of perspective is about the last thing to develop.
