I wonder if we have used Gakpo in midfield partly to help him build his fitness…
That comes secondary after team balance and team performance. I know Klopp usually doesn’t rotate much in the first 3 league games before the international break, he wants as much cohesion as possible, but a change or two isn’t a big deal if it’s clearly needed.

Feeling a lot more optimistic after that appeal. Disrupting the rhythm of the midfield was the last thing we needed.

Just like Atwell, on VAR, missed Brighton’s 'keeper attempting to decapitate Diaz that time and also saw nothing wrong with Cresswell’s assault on Henderson a couple of years ago which remains one of the worst tackles I’ve ever seen. We have him on VAR on Sunday…deep joy!
And he’ll be ably assisted by his mate who is not averse to assaulting the odd LFC player himself.
We really have been blessed so far this season.

Would like to see Darwin in the 2nd half. His physicality would cause Newcastle problems.

I would like to see Darwin Nunez get a good run out too, half an hour, as he is laden with threat, just not so much on the bench!
We will have a strong bench, including some potential match winners.
I expect Newcastle to start quickly and get into us. They may go in front early on, but I hope not. I expect us to be level at the break.
Second half we grow in authority and win 3-1.

Newcastle last game seemed happy to not concede goals against city they barely attacked. They have a couple of speedy players that will try to exploit Trents position like all clubs do. Nunez played well here last season and should start again.
