My son is going. He’ll be with the home supporters
. I’m not risking it due to my health situation too old and decrepit for it.
I’ve driven past the Velodrome quite a few times on match days (usually at around the time everyone is leaving after a match) and really it’s very calm. It’s just the swell of people that’s a problem for motorists, for example.
I know the security measures are strict however having groups of rowdy drunk fans isn’t good and locals, who generally don’t give a fuck about football, will react. It’s not like the supporters of Marseille go looking for it any more than any other fan (except if it’s PSG, Nice or Montpellier).
However the police are atrocious and sticking to the plan is more than highly recommended.
The Newcastle fans that had problems were asking for it so got their just deserves.
Read what @RedWhippet posted it’s clear what is expected of away fans. Just show how dedicated a supporter you are.
Assume the press conference is later along with the training at lunch.
Mo in team training… also someone’s whacked Chiesa it seems ![]()
Do we have any else who can play as a left winger? Nothing more frustrating than watching the 1 trick pony Gapko dribble at the opponent, cut in to his right foot about 25 yards out and gets blocked or kicks it to row Z.
Black eye? I’m sure I noticed that on Saturday.
Ah I didn’t watch on Saturday and only bothered with the first half highlights ![]()
No konate so Gomez will be playing with big Virg.
Slot whacked him said he was runing too fast.![]()

Ibrahima Konate back in France for family reasons. Remains to be seen whether he links up with the squad in Marseille.
[James Pearce, The Athletic]

Would have made more sense if it was the back wheels, but you get my drift, I’m sure.
your tyred?
you wheelie want us to win?
Well Gomez trained, Matip handily got injured just before the window shut…
Is Kabak around? Or that bloke we bought and never played.
Fuck, little Flobs JR is taking over the legacy. Will he be harder to impress with our jokes?
That’s the new Transformer?
Surely, we can beat the 3rd place team in Ligue 1, right?
Looked unlikely before yesterday but the likes of City, Paris and Inter played the ball for direct qualification back into our hands.
The playoffs will be played around the time we play Brighton in the FA Cup sandwiched by some PL fixtures so we better win tonight.
I missed Slot’s press conference, so this is the BBC’S summary:
- Slot confirmed Ibrahima Konate has not travelled with the squad because of a “family matter” and he will speak to him again on Wednesday, meanwhile Mohamed Salah is back following the Africa Cup of Nations and in contention to play.
- On Salah’s return, he added: “I’m very pleased he is back. In his absence we have done quite OK in terms of hardly conceding chances. We are now starting to create more and more, so then really helpful to have player like Mo Salah. We can’t still play [all-time top scorer] Ian Rush so it’s really helpful to have Mo back.”
- Despite Salah’s comments prior to leaving for Afcon in which he said he no longer had any relationship with Slot, the Reds boss says everything is “as normal as it’s always been” with the forward, and the “only exception was not taking him to Inter but he’s been there for every game, he came on against Brighton where we won 2-0 and played well, so he left in a situation that was good for him”.
- Slot said he is “not aware of what was actually said” in a players’ meeting captain Virgil van Dijk held after Burnley defeat, but in their full team post-match meeting they talked “about all the positives from the game and showed where we can do a bit better to make sure when we have a performance like that, with so many shots, it doesn’t result in a draw”.
- Asked about rumours recently sacked Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso is being linked with Liverpool, Slot joked he had had a call from the Spaniard to ask about the team he will get when he takes over, before suggesting it was “one of the weirdest questions I ever got”. He added: “What is there to say? I am working here for a little bit more than one and a half years and I really like my work over here. We won the league last season and struggled more in the league this season that is also obvious.”
- On facing Roberto de Zerbi, who previously coached Brighton: “I regard him as one of the best in the world. It should not always be judged on the trophies you win but your style of play. Marseille is a big club at the moment and its history, I am not the one hiring coaches but if I was, De Zerbi would be high on the list if I worked at a big club.”
