PreMatch | Olympique Marseille vs Liverpool | CL League Stage Game #7 | Wednesday January 21st 20:00h

By the time we play this most of our Top8 rivals will have played and we will see how big our chances of avoiding the two additional Playoff games are.

As I’m typing this OM are 4-1 up at HT away from home.

I know games at Stade Velodrome can be very hostile but other than that I don’t know much about them.

A draw at best, celebrated as a victory by the overrated Slot.

Most important match of the season!
Ok it’s Marseille, in general they take a bit of time to get into the match so getting an early goal would be the way to develop. That worries me as we aren’t good at that.

It will depend on what happens the previous day as top 8 could all be gone or could be very much on.

However I think a good performance with goals would help at this point. I don’t expect it but CL has shown the very best and worst of us this season.

Top 8 is on regardless. However, that is entirely down to our results

Have a feeling that a poor showing in this one will trigger developments.

On the positive side, another 2 points and we should be safe from relegation.

Haven’t played them since 2008 and the Velodrome got renovated with the roof above all stands since, so it will be nice and interesting to go back there after a while.

We’ve faced a lot of teams recently that play with 3 CB’s, although with de Zerbi’s football, it will be more open than some of the sides we faced in the league. It carries danger, but also opportunity.

Concentration will have to be spot on, both in build up and trying to exploit spaces.

I’m sure that Arne and his team will know the personel, tactics and formation to sort out for the game. COYR YNWA :+1::smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I want a lot of sideways and back passing. A few defensive rickets and a tedious draw.

I think that is probably guaranteed.

Not that we usually know much about them, but the officials for this match are:

Referee: Slavko Vinčić SVN
Assistant referees: Tomaž Klančnik SVN ,Andraž Kovačič SVN
Fourth official: David Šmajc SVN
Video Assistant Referee: Christian Dingert GER
Assistant Video Assistant Referee: Ivan Bebek CRO

All Slovenian on the pitch.

Another referee from Greater Maribor

A little bit of information.

Slavko Vinčić is a Slovenian referee who became best known in relation to Liverpool because he refereed the match between Racing Genk - Liverpool match in the Champions League in 2019, but he made global headlines in 2020 after his arrest in Bosnia and Herzegovina during a raid on a house full of drugs, weapons and prostitution, where he was linked to a human trafficking case, despite later being released and continuing his career.

If you are just going to post shit like this, do everyone a favour and post it somewhere else.

Safety information for the match:

I’m not sure I would want to be anywhere near this. I know the Newcastle fans had some unpleasant experiences there.

Not only Newcastle, Marseille has one of the worst supporters in Europe. Generally speaking, European matches are nothing but trouble. As long as you can stay in the large group under police escort, everything will be fine, but if you get isolated with a small group, that’s when the trouble starts.

I suggest we all chip in and send Flobs to the match. He’ll bamboozle the Marseille rascals with some weird surrealistic comments and they’ll be too confused to cause trouble.
