The only way we can win the league is by dominating it. Any close race will end in favor of City or a London club. Our chances to win are very small, but they do exist—like this season.
I believe this season is our best chance in the last 10 years, so every small advantage counts. I don’t want to waste it because opportunities like this rarely happen.
I think we all know that none of the big clubs is that bothered until the semi finals. Of course, if you get that far it’s worth giving it a go, but in the early rounds the big clubs can play weakened teams and still win due to their larger and stronger squads. Meanwhile clubs at the other end of the table can’t prioritise it because their number one mission is survival.
It’s further proof of inequality that teams for whom it’s less important have a greater chance of winning it.
The whole thing would be greatly improved by removing those clubs which are in Europe. Then there would be far more incentive for the likes of Wolves or Palace to really commit to it. It would also be good for the fans of such teams to have a realistic chance of silverware.
Once the whistle blows, my chimp will be out and I’ll want to win.
Right now, and after the final whistle, I won’t be arsed if we get knocked out. We have bigger fish to fry and I’ll take not being legged through a two legged semi final in January, thanks.
Maybe we’d have been a bit closer in the run-in if we’d got a penalty late on at Chelsea when Jackson (?) clearly handled from a corner.
A bit closer if we hadn’t had 3 points stolen off us at Spurs in the clearest case of match fixing I’ve ever seen.
We may have been even closer if the Brighton defender was sent off as he should have been but was allowed to stay on, or the ref hadn’t bought the clear dive for the free-kick they equalised with.
Even closer still if Odegaard wasn’t allowed to play basketball in his own box.
Or closer if Doku wasn’t allowed to plant his boot in MacAllister’s chest without punishment.
Heading into the Utd and Palace games with those extra 10-11 points (let’s not forget City and Arsenal would have had 1 less each) might have made some difference I reckon. Of course you will probably argue we might not have won all those matches but personally I’d rather be in the position to find out.
And of course the most obvious thing surrounding all those incidents is the fact it was ALL the usual suspects involved.
There was no controversy at all about the Jackson “handball” other than among a group of 10 or so posters on here who have never seen a tackle against us that wasnt a foul.
You posted an article explaining why it was not a handball
VAR review: In the Premier League, there has always been a more lenient interpretation of handball. As Jackson was jumping, he had his arm close to his body, and Díaz’s flick meant there was little time to react to the movement. Both of Jackson’s arms were in the same position, which suggest expected position for his movement in that situation.
