Classic smash and grab set up from Southampton, and a much changed line up from us. Aided by 12th man Atkinson, their one chance carved up by Redmond with a good run down the left, and a slight deflection from Milner took it away from Alison. Reminded me of that Man Utd goal from a couple of years back after a foul on Origi.
Before and after that goal, we had most of the ball. The equalizer from Minamino, on for a first start in the Prem for a long time. Whipped in fast by Gomez, controlled by Jota, then Taki took a touch to compose himself and smash it. Game on.
Bobby offside off the freeekick but nevertheless was a good header. The first half ended on a sour note with Gomez saying down after getting trapped under a player.
Did VAR even check it? If not, what’s the fucking point?
