Indeed. There’s also no guarantee that they’ll be of the required quality, but sometimes it’s better to put a right back at right back, than shoehorn someone else in. Flanagan did a job for us despite not being good in the longer term. Others like Macheda too. Sometimes they can lift their standards for just a little while.
I am pretty sure the players and fans would overwhelmingly prefer an FA Cup winners medal than a 5th place trophy. Some of the best memories in my lifetime have been those Wembley days out. I really don’t understand anyone preferring 5th place to an FA Cup win. What a thoroughly dismal outlook…
Those are the memories and medals that players will cherish and tell their grandkids about. The day we won the FA Cup and I scored the winning goal at Wembley or…I got a goal at Sunderland that helped us get 5th place..which will impress them most I wonder?
Or, the season I played in the Champions League vs the season I played in the Europa League.
Yeah, some examples do stand and they’re pretty rare. Compared to the amount of players that pass through a club like Liverpool without ever getting a chance, a proper chance or making it here long term. Very few do.
Nah not for me. I’ll take a trophy every time and so would the players. A year in the Europa, as seems very likely now, won’t hurt us…
We had some with Klopp and survived..
I am with Robbie on this..
Robbie Fowler says trophy success is cherished by players much more than a Premier League top-four finish.
Yeah, I know what you mean. I grew up with FA cup finals which stopped the nation, but now I don’t even know who the current holders are.
It would cheer us up after the season we’ve had though, no doubt.
It was always an event. It was usually the last game of the season and one of the few that would be shown live on TV. This is something I miss with the fragmented nature of modern media. There are very few events that unites everyone. The World Cup should be one of those, but FIFA are doing their best to destroy it.
Wirtz and Ekitike masterclass coming up…i hope
Ramsay to start at RB and prove all the doubters wrong!
But we still lose to goal deflected off beach ball!
Are there many? ![]()
Haha @Nikola

We still owe them one for that beach ball
We dont have any left. I think the last cohort developed a bit quicker than expected, maybe in part because of the opportunities Klopp was forced to give them. That and Slot’s seemingly disinterest in finding a use for them in the first team (which to be clear Klopp may have as well given the strength of the squad), meant they needed to be moved on, but it’s left a big hole at the top end of the academy/reserve teams.
Hope so.
Oh god… don’t remind us…
Horrible day. Remember we switched to 3 at the back and Spearing started in midfield with Lucas. Crisis that sort of ended with the home win against United.
Yeah still owe them…
Message a bit cryptic, but I think this is it:
Ali
Endo-Ibou-Virg-Robbo
Grav-Wirtz-Macca
Mo-Hugo-Cody
Yes, that’s a perfectly reasonable response.
Brighton on Saturday is now our least important game of the season.
