Prematch Thread - Liverpool vs West Ham LC 25th Sep 2024 8PM

Every time I’ve seen him for Italy he’s played right wing. I agree that he can cover all the forward positions, and therefore we’d be better playing him on the right, where we have no other options apart from Mo.

I’ve seen others asserting this, and it’s just not true. When he came up with Fiorentina, he played almost exclusively on the right. Juve moved him around, and he played a good bit on the left, but also played on the right probably 1/4-1/3 of his time there.

Regardless of Ali’s injury situation, Kelleher starts this one.

Szobozo came off early on Sat so expect him start along with Endo and Jones.

Up front id go Gakpo Nunez and Chiesa

At the back is prob the trickiest. Would want Virgil to have a night off so maybe Konate and Quansah, with a view of getting Konate off on 60. If both CBs change I’d imagine one of Robbo or Trent starts, otherwise id get Bradley and Tsimikas on from the start

Maybe this is one for trent to captain the team and come off around 60.

Appears the vast majority are expecting to see a much changed line up then…

Absolute scenes on here when Arne only names 1-2 changes from the weekend.

I think there’s a fair point to be had about whether Jaroš should. He’s probably due a debut with us sooner or later, especially considering that if Alisson is out for a longer stretch he’s our next in line after Kelleher. He’s also a double winner with Sturm Graz, having won their league and domestic cup last season.

It is a fair point. My view is if Ali’s due back for Wolves then you would start Kelleher. If Ali is out for a longer stretch, then think you’d want Kelleher in for this one to gain rhythm.

And Kelleher has already gone public that he wants to leave so no need to play just to keep him happy.

I can see why he’s picked Kelleher. Good games for Kelleher maximises his value at the transfer market.

Sounds like anyone (like me) thinking he’s going to rotate the team a fair bit will be wrong…

The right decision if Ali is back at the weekend.

Having said that, I’d have been tempted to play Jaros, give Kelleher Wolves, and let Ali have another week off regardless. Too important to rush back.

He does talk about Jaroš as well though, if only to mention how we have 3 good options in the position compared to other positions. I think if we had gotten a lower league side he might have had less qualms about playing Jaroš.

But really, it’s one of those things where we have the luxury of being spoilt for options. And honestly, if it helps keep Kelleher happy, that’s a bonus. He can leave Liverpool when he’s 36 or something.

Before Forest, Slot said that Ali is close to being back in training. So it’s likely that we’re not even rushing anything and he’ll have a normal return to training for Wolves. As fans on the outside, not knowing enough details, there’s no need to call for extra days off or whatever. I have confidence that they’re doing the right thing.

We’ve got Bologna at home that can be if needed , deputed to Kelleher as well. If Alisson does need more time.

Bologna is 13th in Serie A and doesn’t look to be the side it was last season

Looks painful at this point.

Is that the naughty chair?

Not if Cody is in it. Might be one of the most genuine nice guys in the game.

Depends, he might have done something wrong by accident anyway.

Either that or van Dijk was pranking him.
