PreMatch | West Ham vs Liverpool | PL Matchday 19 | Sunday December 29th 17:15h

Should win comfortably but we like doing things the hard way.

McConnell ahead of Morton on the bench?

Morton had some injury issues.

Chiesa off in January? or another injury ?

Not even travelled with the squad

Slot commented during the week he missed training because he was ill.

Actually, no. That was the week before :man_shrugging:

He was on the bench against Leicester though?

Dog ate his pants or something. Feel like it doesn’t really matter anymore at this point.

Wonder if Morton is off out on loan? Only a couple of days away.

As for Chiesa you are all probably right.

Yes.
He is a waste of space, serially injured, made of biscuits, a new Naby, Thiago etc.

He is unfortunate in his start of his Liverpool career.
And we need someone to pile on.
Curtis Jones probably bought Chiesa out of his own money.

Kind of wish Grav got a rest today, but as long as he doesn’t get a yellow and/or an injury I’ll be OK. We have a week off until the scum.

Those two words just naturally go together…

See we’ve got the 7 dwarfs on duty today…oh sorry…one has disappeared…

Will be interesting to see where Macca and Jones will play. Jones in the No.10 as Szobozlai would have, or will they rotate a bit more. Neither Jones or Macca have dom’s running or stamina.

Very nervous about this game.
I think the waiting is getting on me…

Both teams have 4 players unavailable, I thought they had a lot more missing….

I think with those three Jkned has typically played the 10 - keeps Mac and Gravy in the same partnership that has been very effective.

I’d expect them to be pretty fluid as 3 since they are all really all-round midfielders who can and have played any of the roles.

Chiesa has been a huge let down hasn’t he.

I guess his talent made the gamble on his fitness worth the risk but he’s Arthur levels of absentness at this point.

Maybe we could get our money back on him in January but I suspect we’re going to be left with another “loan until we can give him away” scenario here.

Wonder whether we could take Doak back off his loan early to give us another forward option for the second half of the season.

No money back in January.

He’s on Juventus wages here on a contract until he’s 31.

Will be a few loans with options and clauses, nobody does the market like the Italians do.

Sometimes there’s a reason why something is ‘cheap’, don’t have to jump all over it immediately.

We’re f*cked. :joy:

On a serious note, we’ll see if he’s still here in January and if he gets that pre-season next summer. IF he’s fit to have one then.

You can’t take for granted the availability of Salah and van Dijk, so not every one of our signings has proved injury prone, but we seem to have taken a punt on a few “injury prone but promising/talented” players (Keita, Thiago, etc.) and then they spend half the time out (or more in the case of Chiesa/Arthur). Little of the upside, most of the downside. It’s a bit frustrating.

We needed Arthur and was a player we would not have brought in without the injuries he earmarked to be a near term solution for. That is not the case with the signing of Chiesa and so if it takes until next season for him to find his feet then so be it.
