Grealish looks like staying put, having just agreed a new 5-year Villa deal:

I bet my left nut , that thereā€™s a relegation clause somwhere in there.
Otherwise a smart move by the lad not to get burned through by one of the big clubs and stay there for a while.

Haha, Grealish not the only one with a new five-year deal.

23% pay cut. Trending closer to true value?

Aubameyang new contract confirmed. 3 year deal.

Was it 400k a week as rumoured?

They are saying 250,000 k a week

How can he get by on that?

First sensible thing Simon Jordanā€™s ever said and probably the first sensible thing ever said on talkshite.

I was unaware that thereā€™s an offer in to buy West Ham. I think this one might happen if the American consortium comes back with an offer that covers the 20% that West Hamā€™s owners would have to repay to the public coffers.
Would have to revise my ranking of Moyes in the sack race. If new owners come in heā€™ll be gone the next day.

The presenter or whoever he was didnā€™t look too pleased at such a logical view that clearly makes sense. Bet he didnā€™t expect that either.

A bit surprised with these overreactions from the media after only matchday 1.

Suddenly Spurs are f*cked, our defence is dropping seriously, Arsenal will fight for the league, Aubameyang is the leagueā€™s best striker, Everton will fight for top 4, Sheffield will be in relegation battleā€¦

Jeez, we really missed football.

Whatā€™s new then?

ā€œItā€™s too early to call anything , butā€¦ā€ is that infamous opening that inshures absolute bullshit to follow.

Just like in ā€œIā€™m not racist , butā€¦ā€

Media and people in general do overreact, but I actually think some of those are points in the correct direction and Iā€™m not basing that on GW1 only (except for Arsenal fighting for the title - no way that happens imo)

Everton will be much better team this season imo, Ancelottiā€™s work will start to bring results this season - itā€™s a bit like when Klopp came in when the season was ongoing - we didnā€™t suddenly see huge increase points-wise from day one, but we all could see the improvements and we knew that itā€™s only a matter of time for that to affect our points and league position. Everton now have much much better midfield in Allan, Doucure and Gomez is fit again, James Rodriguez will bring creativity and they will look quite better in attack + have better protection defensively. They still have suspect defence and shite keeper though, so I donā€™t think they will get top 4, but maybe top 6, Ancelotti is a class act.

I think Sheff U will struggle this season, second season syndrome coming, they surprised most people last season after coming up, but now everyone knows what theyā€™re about and will find ways to score more against them. I donā€™t think theyā€™ll be that good defensively and they are quite bad in attack anyway, so while I donā€™t think they will get relegated (Fulham, WBA and West ham (if they donā€™t change something) looking more likely) I wouldnā€™t be surprised if they are close to the relegation zone.

Spurs also look quite bad with the ā€œSpecial onceā€ effect and I think they will not be in top 6, they are looking worse by the day. And Mourinho already started throwing players under the bus, so we know what happens then, I wonā€™t be surprised if heā€™s sacked before the season is finished.

Iā€™m not convinced by Allan as a #6, especially as a single pivot.

Doucoure is also a little bit overrated in my opinion, but yeah, could bring some dynamism and a few goals.

James remains quality technically, but weā€™ll see how good in this league. Iā€™d say there are good reasons why he ended up at Everton. Also only on a 2-year deal. Means theyā€™ll already have to make a decision next summer what to do with him.

I also think Doucoure is a bit overrated, but still a decent player. The new players + Gomez (injured most of last season) are still big upgrades on what they had to use last season. They often had to play with midfield two of Tom Davis (terrible player imo) and Siggy (decent player, but not his position). JamesR should be much better than Walcott/Iwobi to support their attack. If Spurs prove me right, I think Everton will be fighting for top 6 with Wolves and Leicester.

Yeah, they were a mess. Huge roster, but pretty unbalanced and too many similar players of not even great quality.

The changes they made should bring more order I think and better results. Just how good? Weā€™ll see.
