They are a carbon copy of Napoli

I share the pain concerning Van Dijk. I too think it is a major threat and it is awful that it happened. But I just don’t think Ancelotti tells his players to go out and systematically destroy players. Primarily because I have no reason to think he is a sadist and secondly, because it will make it impossible for them to win many games if they get into situations where they get a red cards too often. It just doesn’t make sense to me from a strategic point of view even if you allow for extreme callousness in the coach.

Yes, this has to be Ancelloti which is a shame as ive always liked him. I didnt watch Napoli enough to realise that was the way they played but did take more notice after our games against them. Seems to be a way to win against better opposition but hardly a nice way

Watching that Digne challenge again it’s even more outrageous seeing it back. Intentional or not, that was EXTREMELY reckless and endangering the welfare of an opponent. KWP could have had his ankle broken. That was at least 3 or 4 yards his ankle being pinned and dragged along the ground by Digne’s boot. He had an initial nibble then chased him down from behind to stomp on his ankle. That was an awful challenge and IMO rooted in spite. Intentional or not, thats red every day all day for me. Even if wearing a Liverpool shirt.

Maybe it is not the way Ancelotti wants them to play
if that is the case he needs the players to brush up on the morse code messages he is sending out from his dancing eyebrow

The presenter waffling on about how tight the table is and how incredible it is etc etc. 6 games, FFS, we’re 6 games in. Whatever happened to the old adage of the league not being won in November. Absolutely everything is about the current moment with almost no logical consideration given to what marathons league campaigns are.

I dunno, most of my in depth watching of league football week in and week out started in the mid to late 90’s, it surely wasn’t always like this was it?

What will Carlo the Hut have to say through his flabby arsed face.

Isnt that their 3rd red in 6 games? Not including the one Pickford shoudnt have had so that would be a red in two thirds of the game splayed so far. If its not intentional perhaps he should try buying footballers instead of ice hockey players

What a weird weekend we went from everybody certain that we would fold after the loss of VVD’s services then our biggest rival Shitty shit the bed again with Manure and Chelski doing the same
I honestly thought Everton would win today but they failed miserably I apologise to the Saints they will hurt a lot of teams this season and so will Leeds and Sheffield
This season is going to be turbulent for everybody

I see your logic. I doubt he tells them to get reds. I am starting to believe that he does tell them to play a bruising style. Very bruising. Even very, very, bruising. And then when they do and earn their reds, he probably says, “Good bruising today, lads, but stop with the reds. Okay. Good job. Now remember we are the grand old team and we should bruise Newcastle in a sporting manner.”

Perhaps they can’t handle the tempo and perhaps some of them boil over too easily. Perhaps they are just not good enough at times. Look at where Everton is now compared to before Ancelotti arrived. They try to press with more agression, speed and intensity than under Silva and I just don’t think all of his players can handle that speed. Their squad is so-so.

I would like @jaffod and @WooltonRed to weigh in on these matters. They define cooler heads and I enjoy their vocabulary.

I’ll give you that one lol, it could just be they dont have the ability to play this way. Doesnt change the way i feel about them, pretty soon everyone will start hating them if they continue risking other players. I’ve always hated this style of football even back in the old days and am so glad to see these teams relegated. Even now if i had to choose who to see relegated it would be Burnley as they take nastiness into every game but Everton are slowly gaining on them

I would but I’ve been out all day. Missed the Everton game.
What’s the topic?

I don’t mean to be rude but Ancillada tactics in Italy were very subtle by the use of a lot of tactical fouls but in the PL he thinks he will get away with murder by being a bit more deliberate, he did get away with a lot against us because we are not treated fairly by VAR and refs in general but unless he changes that approach that good start this season will translate in another 8th place
