Premier League 2020/21 (Part 1)

Well somebody must…somewhere…

Was a good free kick that, yes. 2-0. Palace will likely win this now, but I do think Leeds will score 1-2 goals. Entertaining match.

IMO it’s entirely possible that the trailing foot of Kouyate is playing Bamford “onside”, but there’s no way to tell because it’s hidden and VAR defaulted to using Clyne’s shoulder.

He looks a yard onside there. His feet and majority of his body bar his left arm is onside. Football is eating itself with this shite.

What did I say about this game ? Awesome game. This is just a lovely football game.
Uncanny how lethal Bamford has been lately btw.

That was my first thought too. Bamford’s lead foot is in line with Kouyate’s rear foot. I don’t think Bamford could have leaned so far that he’s beyond Kouyate, he’s not Michael Jackson. It looks to me like Kouyate’s arse is playing him onside.

Meant to agree with your initial point, and I’ve been thinking it for a while, that a simplified offside rule that refers only to the position of the feet would clear up so many issues.

If only leeds United could defend.

Yeah, but they do okayish for their style.

What I think many don’t consider is that for a newly promoted team to play offensive football, something has to give. No way on earth can a promoted team with some new players (not super stars) bought to strengthen, play very strongly defensively if they also want to create enough chances, that’s just not possible.
Leeds are doing better than they should. All is good for them now. In time, Bielsa, if they survive in the Prem (looks like it), adjust their defensive set up and adjust their midfield, so they can defend in a better manner while still not losing offensive coordination.
But we can’t expect them to have both upper table defensive strength AND upper table offensive strength. They are not Liverpool or Manchester City after all.

Anyway, this is my opinion. I’ll criticise their defense next season if it is not adjusted.

Keeper napping.

Not unhappy with Man Utd win. Any goodwill I had towards Everton evaporated after the derby. Everton cloggers can plod around 8th spot for all I care, and while I don’t want Man Utd to win anything, Ole is on thin ice and they are about to replace him with better, so if that is delayed, I will take it.

And Leeds? Can’t defend. 3-1 now. Bamford should have two though.

Yeah. Got caught by surprise by the deflection and froze. Ironically, defense played quite well in that situation. Keeper was a statue though. I guess he was moving to one side mentally and physically, and then just couldn’t stop in time. Looked stupid though, a bit like crashing into a car in slow motion.

That goal had nothing to do with bad defending, mate.
Or technically, ideally, that deflection should not have happened in a perfect defensive world I guess, a split second too late an intervention, so maybe you can criticise that, but then bar is set very high indeed.

This is never offside

Leeds taking a battering according to the score line, Leeds just attack attack attack , MB will have to change tactics if they want to stay in the premier league.

Any way you slice it, Patrick Bamford es muy goleador. If he keeps up this strong season, he’ll be playing for a much better team next season.

For my money they should just call offside based on foot position.

Oh Leeds

And with that win, ManU vaults all the way up the table to 13th.

Zouma next to Silva just seems a bit fragile to me.

Goal Sheffield Utd!
