I think like a lot of our youngsters, he was overhyped, particularly by fans. Quite a long list including Solanke, Wilson, Woodburn, Ibe.
It’s a big step up from excelling in age group teams to actually making it as a decent Premier League player.

Brewster was supposed to be struggling with Klopps training methods so not surprising he was sold, he’s a fox in the box type so always going to struggle with a team like Sheffield Utd.
Can’t help it, whenever I see John Lundstram, I think of Cadet Blankes’ face from Police Academy.
Same type of imbecil. ![]()
Sheffield Utd are really shit when they need to chase a game. As a team they rely too much on defence, feel bad for Brewster, he is going to struggle again with a team that avoids his strengths.
To be fair, Klopp raved about him too.
Now we all know that managers have to build players’ confidence but a lot of internet users are going to go by the boss’s word when there is limited evidence available elsewhere.
Agreed, though with the asterix that he may bloom into something much more complete in time, so we should also be wary to categorically judge. As for now, he is a good finisher but is far from complete.
On the other hand, the two most hyped youngsters we’ve had in the last 10 years are two of the best players in the league, and Jones who was more highly rated than that lot is getting a proper chance at only 19, whilst Conor Coady is captaining one of the best sides in the league.
Lots needs to go right for young kids to make it. Some get serious injuries, some have mental health problems, some don’t have the drive, some just aren’t good enough.
Brewster was never as good as Sterling, Trent or Jones so that injury probably finished off any chance he had of making it here.
And he may still become a star. In 2-3 years. We’ll see. Not every player is fantastic that early in their careers, some bloom later. They may not have a long career as a star like Messi or Ronaldo or other super stars with epic careers, but they may have 4-5 very good years on a very high level. Time will tell.
Sheffield Utd have not conceded more than 2 in a game so far this season, I think they will today.
Brewster subbed, no surprise never even broke a sweat and Mcgoldrick sweating like a pig.
I would have to agree with that, it’s going to be a frustrating team for him, and McGoldrick is more suited to the team’s tactics.
Brewster had 5 touches of the ball in 50 minutes. That’s nowhere near good enough. He doesn’t put enough effort in, from what I’ve seen of him.
It looks like Ziyech is the new darling of the commentators.
Sheffield is going down, down, down
Agreed Magnus. Given how lifeless and uninspired Palace played thru Project Restart I thought for sure they would stumble and struggle to get going to start this season and Roy would likely be the first manager sacked this season. I was quite wrong. They are doing their thing. Stringing together results.
For me, their struggles have been the surprise of the early days of this season. The one silver lining for Blades is they do have a favorable schedule when play resumes after international break.
Come on Fulham.
West ham win 1-0 in injury time Fulham miss a pen at the end.
Is the keeper not off the line?
EDIT: just checked, he should be fine.
What puzzled me is the prononciation of his name by commentators as Zayeck instead of Zeeyesh
He is a good player but he will only become a great player when he signs for us 3 years later
