The idea that referees are immune from criticism and accountability explains EXACTLY WHY so many despise them. If they didn’t have a Mike Riley-imposed gag order and were actually able to articulate and/or defend their decisions, I feel like there’d be a lot more people willing to understand their viewpoint. But, when they make a mistake that has implications on a match and are mum about it, people naturally get angry.
The repercussions of those bad decisions go much further; one point can decide the title or be the difference between relegation and survival.
I know bringing up the Etihad game in 2019 might be sour grapes, but Kompany not being sent off for his challenge on Salah was just as big of a factor as Stones’ clearance IMHO. Made our 3-1 over them at Anfield after the Trent handball (which did hit Silva’s hand first) and their early chances feel like payback.
It isn’t- it’s a statement of fact. Just like Atkinson’s refusal to award us a penalty when Pereira trod on Keïta’s ankle in the 1-1 draw with Leicester that season.
Nuno should point blank refuse to pay it!
Why is it not as simple as giving a 5 game ban for anyone so flagrantly breaking the rules? Throw in two weeks wages whilst you’re at it.
Oh well, as long as he’s apologised, that makes everything ok!
Jeez!!
Don’t forget the undisclosed voluntary donation to the NHS, I’m sure that hit him hard.
Oh yeh, I’m sure it did.
Not sure if this has been posted anywhere yet
Bizarrely, given it’s Dyche, but this actually makes some sense.
I guess the flipside of saving all the tests for the NHS is you take the vaccine from those who are more at risk from the effects of Covid.
Yes, he does, I read in a Dutch newspaper that the UK already vaccinated 1.5m people, so a lot of the most vulnerable people already are, what terrible delay can 35 people of each PL club do.
At the moment watching football on the telly is the only fun a lot of people have, make sure they keep having that.
But it needs to be more than 35 people to be vaccinated at each club surely? You’ve got at least 25 players, then coaches, physios, doctors etc etc etc. Although yes, could give the players the jabs sure, but there would need to be a continuation of strict protocols etc.
As for footy being the only fun a lot of people have - whist true, there are just as many that hate footy and probably don’t give a fuck, and would be somewhat perturbed by the fact that superstar footballers are getting it before the real folk of the world.
Personally there is a lot of sense in what Dyche says but from a pragmatic point of view it’s not the way forward at all IMO. Once you start protecting one business another one from another industry pipes up and asks “what about us”. Rugby for example, or ski resorts or banks.
The priority must be those at highest risk or where the need is greatest. Health workers, care workers, etc.
I wonder what impact vaccinating children before their parents would have?
Well, there will be people perturbed, angry even outraged, because that is the fashion these days. They love it and what they love even more is being outraged on Twitter and Facebook.
Me, can’t be bothered. I learned this week that my group starts not earlier than March, well if a few football players make it that I will get the shot in the afternoon instead of in the morning, fine by me.
Yeah if you don’t follow idiots, you don’t worry about being outraged. Works for me…
Apparently the PL are reverting to the rules in place in project restart…
They should have reverted to them back in the Autumn.
They should have stuck with Bilic, he was getting enough out of them to save them, he won’t.
