Ball was played towards the attacking player. Whether or not mings gets a touch is irrelevant. Should be offside

So you can loiter in an offside position, wait for the ball to be played forward while offside, wait for the opposition player to touch it then tackle him?

I have no clue how offside works any more. I cannot blame Dean Smith’s anger there, stupid decision, and no VAR check…

Yep, no way anyone outside Manchester will win the league this year. Shame because if it isnt us id rather Leicester get it. I’m waiting now for the VAR to come out and say they made a mistake. Wont make a blind bit of difference as City will still keep the win, whoever is in charge will pray for a 2nd goal now.

They just explained that on BT Sport because Mings deliberately played it it brought City players onside. Im sure we’ve had something like this before? Either way it turns out it was the right decision using rules that are getting worse and worse. This game used to be so simple, its almost unidentifiable from what i used to play. Shirt sleeves being the offside mark, and a toenail offside etc, its just making this unwatchable. I know the enjoyment has gone from the game because of daft rules and the way the refs are at the moment

Also we got one in our favor they missed correct? Against Citeh i believe too, Lovren failed clearance Sterling scored and then got called offside. Not saying anything other than agreeing with you that it is a stupid rule

Still miles to go in the season but it’s looking grim with City kicking on at precisely the right time. They’re just a machine. Clinical, surgical, precise, machine.

It’s sacrilege for me to say, and call me petty if you like, but id prefer City collect another title to United, and definitely instead of having to watch Brendan lift the trophy. And my posting history bears out that despite his quirks and idiosyncrasies, I always liked BR. I’m just emotionally not in a place that I could stomach watching him lift the trophy one year removed from us lifting it.

I haven’t seen the City goal, but I remember feeling particularly strongly about that Lovren one because he couldn’t be reasonably argued to have been “in control” of the ball.

I think it should not be offside if it’s a deliberate pass, but if it’s a clearance, then definitely not?
