Rumours doing the rounds on social media that Hendo and Salah tested positive.
If thats the case the match has to be off?
Spurs have had cancellations for less players out.
They need to postpone the game today, before fans travel down to London. The Premier League never seem to consider the cost to fans, when a game is postponed.
I don’t think Klopp will push for postponing this match if we can field a full squad.
If Henderson and Salah have tested positive, it’s unlikely they’ll be the only players to do so. There will probably be more by tomorrow, the game should be postponed under the circumstances.
Once it’s in the squad it’s going to be hard to contain so I wouldn’t be surprised if there are more positive results between now and tomorrow. This will probably carry on for at least the next couple of weeks or so for all clubs so I think there will be a ‘firebreak’ of fixtures whether the PL want one or not.
The discussion now should be about whether the season can be extended to fit all the rearranged games in, not just ploughing on regardless and hoping for the best.
If the Premier League was a sensible and responsible authority, they would have brought the winter break forward to mid December.
Scrap that energy drink cup…
We really don’t want a break yet, we are on a massive momentum wave and got weak teams coming up… the more points we can accumulate now and avoid a massive pile up of fixtures in April would be fantastic.
If we are fielding a team of U23s the momentum would be gone pretty quickly.
Sorry but if that’s true then we should not play because others have said no doubt more will have it. As for the winter break they can’t as South America have stuck some more qualifiers in that period.
I think I saw comments from Klopp that he would need another 6-8 players out with it before considering any request not to go ahead with the game?
Klopp seems to want to plough ahead but I think he is wrong on that. We will end up about 6-9 points behind if we do, I think Leicester went ahead with Brighton and they had 4 at the time then that increased, Brighton also then showed up 2-3 days later with 3-4
If Newcastle show up with cases now then PL are just letting this go through clubs and it’s totally stupid.
We are risking everything for playing games with a seriously depleted squad what’s even the point in the last 17 games, what’s the point in getting into a title race.
If that’s true on Twitter and remember Fabinho also showed up with the rumoured two then at what point do we say enough.
Other options and the PL somewhat against it is to play them in the none CL participation weeks at 6pm like Italy and Spain sometimes do, I know they can’t clash with the CL, maybe the FA Cup replays need scrapping as that buys another midweek and the football league is absolutely decimated as well.
If I’m honest it’s likely we will play an extra January game now if we weren’t to beat Leicester in the league cup and if it’s spreading in our camp like it seems we will be up to 8-10 by midweek.
Leeds haven’t yet been effected but no doubt will so you wonder if that game happens on Boxing Day.
Isn’t it ironic that during the 19/20 season when we were miles ahead of everyone else, our rivals were screaming null and void the season.
Where are all these hypocrites now???
Thank you!! I’m glad I’m not the only one noticing this deafening hypocritical silence
Villa game now has gone as well due to increased amounts of cases, 2 hours before kick off.
I think if the rumours are true then the PL need to just accept it, not fair on travelling fans.
It’s a shame. I still wonder if these players are actually ill or just returning positive tests. If not ill, let them play. This is how society is behaving anyway. Many thousands carrying the virus unbeknownst and heading to office, pub, etc. Why should pro athletes in the prime of life act differently?
Leeds v Arsenal still on for today.
He says hopefully. Believe, @RedOpium! Believe there can be football!
Problem is you can’t with a positive case that’s the advice from public health England you can’t overrule the advice on that. I personally disagree with yourself but I respect your opinion and I think we need to curb its spread.
Can’t make the PL exempt with close proximity to the public.
And I don’t think watching Patched up teams is really the game anyone in a top level game anyone wants to watch.
Football seems to be continuing fine in Europe and Scotland can’t think why
