Premier League 2021/22 (Part 2)

Curious statistic.

Against the other “top six” sides, we won all four matches against Arsenal and ManU, and drew all eight matches against City, Spurs and Chelsea.

That’s six in the league; I assume they include the Chavs twice in the cup finals… so have they forgotten the win over City in the semi?

Yes! Thank you. I forgot about the FA Cup match over City.

Wasn’t Rafa without 2 of their key players basically throughout his entire tenure?

No, because they don’t have any key players.

Still can’t believe that miss from Antonio, had all the time in the world…the whole goal to aim at… on his strong foot and still fucks up.

It’s not those games you lose the title it’s those games you should be winning or seeing out those you are ahead in. Brighton at home sticks in the mind a lot but the early games we were conceding too many as VVD was getting back to match shape.

Yes we should have taken advantage of Chelsea in that first game and we were ahead of Man City but it’s not those games I’ll look to if we fall short.

Watching delayed MotD. Can’t believe the penalty given for Spurs. Remember when Ederson wiped out Fraser, ball nowhere in sight? Decisions have been utterly ridiculous this season.

Ok, so do they have any lock players? :slightly_smiling_face:

Roy, this time please stay in retirement…unless you wish to throw away 5 more years away because thats what his stint at Watford must’ve felt like.

Agreed. Had City lost 3-2 we’d have been facing the prospect of needing to claw back a big chunk of the GD difference on Tuesday, which likely would have forced Klopp’s hand into risking a few senior players who really dont need to playing. It forces our hand in terms of the team selection and fucks up the game plan because then you’re trying to live up to the TAN match thread that demands you being 3-0 after 15 minutes. Now we know that all we need are simple wins and those SHOULD be achievable with the much rotated team we really need to be putting out. Yeah it requires Villa get something next weekend, but I think that is more likely than us winning our next 2 by enough to over turn that GD lead, and at least this way we dont need to worry about trying to.

Also on West Ham, they definitely deserve to be in Europe than the Manures. They played their tactics to near perfection. I have been impressed by Antonio, he is not going to be world class but he does what he does really well, making a mockery at times of the billionaire team defenders. They will unfortunately be unable to keep hokd of their best players or else with a few additions, they might stay in top 6 for a long time. Also, happy retirement to Mr West Ham. Respect to him for his commitment to his club.

It’s finished, at Anfield. Liverpool have done all they can. That Mané goal was enough for the three points. Villa still alive here, Ings…COUTINHOOO…

I swear, you’ll never see anything like this ever again!

Hope it happens. Obviously another title to us but the prospect of watching Pep go thermonuclear is too juicy to resist.
