I’m bullish for next year — I think City were a bit off their mojo in the second half of the year and I really think we were the better team — we just left ourselves far too much to do after a bad spell from late October (ironically right after 5-0 at OT) through January. Also frustrating that we dropped points down the stretch, but it’d be even harder to take than it is if we’d coughed up a lead.
Not in terms of position, but I think Diaz’s emergence is like that of Fabinho, we went from having to play Milner, Henderson, and Wijnaldum every game and provided an extra dimension. When we won the CL I genuinely felt we could go all the way the next year, and you have to remember, at the start of the 19-20 season we were probably 3/1 odds. I genuinely can see Diaz showing improvement and getting to Mane/Salah’s levels consistently in the next 1-2 years. He could be a world-beater even more than he already is. I can see them stagnating a bit and we are in a position to push on. Easier said than done of course but we’re right there.
That did cross my mind to be honest. I suppose they’d argue that we would walk it if City wasn’t there. It might come across as sour grapes but I could honestly live with any other club (bar Everton and soon to be Newcastle) winning in the same manner as today other than City.
My mood isn’t helped by the joke that was the CAS hearing in 2019 / 2020. That still grates it was so pathetically bent.
No coincidence that the Cheaters struggle in CL when the standard of European referees are higher than the weekly dross the PL have employed here… The Fernandinho’s and Rodri’s have to reign in their tactical fouls no less
What a sour taste it brings when this shit stain of a club win anything, never mind the PL
Delighted Burnley are relegated, I know Dyche did a good job but shit football don’t belong in the premier league.
The bitters hammered and although the arse win they fail to qualify for the champions league brilliant.
Leeds and Brentford are 2 teams I love watching so happy Leeds stayed up, I know their fans are cunts.
The deluded mancs losing again and spurs not doing a spursy on the last day so not a bad final day.
It was Liverpool supporters that were sent into the crowd to cause trouble just to give us a bad reputation, City are innocent, the owners have assured me.
Call me bitter and a bad loser (and I am bitter and a bad loser) but I can’t over Kompany and Maguire not being sent off against us in January 2019. There was no VAR back then. Ultimately, it cost us the title. This season, Creswell and Kane don’t get sent off against us at 0:0, Man City get a non-penalty against Wolves and get away with an identical one against Everton. There is VAR this season. Ultimately, it cost us the title. These decisions will stay with me for as long as I’m in control of my mind.
How the fuck do we compete against that on top of them making a mockery out of FFP and league with their creative accounting and inflated, dodgy sponsorship deals? Guardiola desperately tries to make his team into something they are not, it’s pathetic to call them legends for winning so many titles, forgetting that he was given a blank chequebook to assemble this team.
I agree with everything in your post, but I’m not going to add to it, because I’ve had several G&T’s, I’m still angry and I’m afraid I might post something, which I’ll regret in the morning.
