In the last few years, I would say our form against low block teams is more on the lines of W9D1L0 or W8D1L1. In other words, nigh on perfect.

It’s just that as we’re up against $hitty, the odd points dropped here and there gives the impression that we struggle.

It’s not as if we’re Spurs, who can only turn it on when the other teams attack so they can counter press and attack. They’re the definition of a team that struggles against the low block, as more often that not, they’ll struggle to a 1-0 loss to the likes of Burnley.

Our standards are so high, that many were calling for Mane to be dropped earlier in the season, and now Mo is getting the same treatment.

And yet, we’re still in the hunt for every competition and we’re approaching the middle of May.

Oi cunt where is Thiago?

I think a big part of that is not having someone like Thiago who has the confidence to pretty much ignore the tactics and play 5 minutes of “anti-Klopp” football, i.e. Slow it down, keep posession but without penetration, take the sting out of the game.

Trent and Robbo are possibly our two worse for playing high risk football irrespective of the flow of the game.

I like Kovacic but I don’t think he was more effective than Thiago.

Yup that Brighton game is a perfect example to be fair.

I don’t think we’ve particularly struggled, though Chelsea are a good team, low blocking wasn’t the issue against Brighton or at Brentford and if we are honest that’s the places we’re we should have done better.

Mount has been excellent but he’s barely a midfielder.

Thanks @Kopstar , presume you went for Foden, DeBruyne and Fraudiola like the rest of us?

In fairness Kevin has actually been very good, the bastard and Mo has notably faded.

It’s like you can read my mind!

Trent, Mo, Jurgen…only choices.

I would also say that Mane, Jota, Robertson, Matip, Thiago, Van Dijk, Alisson all deserve to be nominated ahead of several others on that list.

Yeah would prefer if they did separate best Defender; Midfielder and Forward.
Not that he’d be picked, but I think Joel is actually our most ‘deserving’ defender this season and he’s impressed me more than Virg.

Van Dijk seems to escape a lot of scrutiny, presumably because he’s got levels other players simply can’t get to. But he’s been far too casual and disengaged on a number of occasions this season. Quite a few of the goals we’ve given up recently could be attributed to this. The Spurs goal for instance.

I’d have Alisson as one of our players of the season. He’s baled out our defending so many times.

What a chance for Cornet.

I normally wouldn’t care, but hearing comments made by Arsenal supporters yesterday I fucking hope Spurs get 4th place.

I only want Burnley to win only because I still hope EVerton will go down.
