This answers your question

  • a player in an offside position is moving towards the ball with the intention of playing the ball and is fouled before playing or attempting to play the ball, or challenging an opponent for the ball, the foul is penalised as it has occurred before the offside offence

This also helps explain part of the reason why it isn’t offside, also Akanji was never close enough to Rashford or the ball to foul him or play the ball

This whole clusterfuck reminds me of the AFL…as anyone with a working knowledge of that code will know, when it comes to the rules of a game, the more words you put on a page the greater the chance of just making things worse.

Fucking Utd cunts.

With automated offside they will have to clear this up.

I do think going with any player regardless will come in unless obvious like down injured.

I think automated depending on camera angles would make it easier and with wording in the Laws of the game saying an attacker moving towards the ball within 5 metres of the ball, something like that?

One way to simplify the offside rule, and this would remove the number of ridiculous VAR sagas would be to call the offside on foot position.
All of the scrutiny to see if the attackers fucking armpit was offside is ruining the game.

I can already picture it!

That was pretty special by Olise.

JWP aint got a patch on you my son.

How does Wan Bissaka time those challenges so well ffs man.

Seeing United concede a stoppage time equalizer was about the best thing that’s happened all week. :grinning:

Err we beat Wolves

Olise’s got a nice left foot.

That tackle in the dying seconds by Bissaka though…

Tackles alone are worth £50m!

What I really was getting at was the pleasantly surprised element of it. I could see us beating Wolves, and I’m glad we did, but I absolutely did not expect that to just bang in the top corner the way it did.

Fair enough, I didn’t expect anything after Brighton but yeah this week starting Monday has improved.

Definitely didn’t expect it, but for some reason we seem to win at Molineux – it’s always a grind (19-20 and last season) but easy to forget that the final push for the top four in 20-21 started in earnest with that Jota winner against his old club. Wolves definitely deserved to go through based on the showing at Anfield, yet while I am never a fan of a replay I somehow thought we might sneak it.

I thought our record at Brighton was poor mind but that was our first loss

Two things will happen tonight.

Spurs will win away from home 1-2.
'Arry will claim the hat-trick.

I keep reiterating why you can’t change when someone is offside i.e by using their feet. That reason is that tge game isn’t just played at professional level, how would a linesman/assistant referee see whether just the feet are offside as it is is sufficient and hard enough.

Wow I can’t believe I’m saying this, let alone for 2 weeks in a row…and I totally blame LFC for this btw but come on City.
