Those 43 points we’ve dropped so far are going to cost us dear.
On the bright side we’re just about certain to avoid the Europa Conference League.
Indeed, scary to think there was a good portion of posters here who wanted him to succeed Klopp.
And midday kick offs on BT were Jake Humphries is on the verge of wanking himself on tv if we are 1-0 down.
In fact he doesn’t do Europa so I can happily avoid him next season.
Our run of 6 straight wins has been great, if only we managed to do that every month of the season before April/May we’d be in with a shout lifting #20.
Yeah, winning every game would be ideal.
Few weeks ago it looked like we will play ECL at best and now
We winning our remaining games and one of Newcastle or United dropping points in two of their remaining three games and we are very likely in the CL.
I’ll take that.
I do think a rebuild and development away from the CL is probably for the best.
After all it’s the PL I want again.
Only if Klopp treats Europa League as a sideshow to PL, though. I wouldn’t disregard it completely as it still is a difficult competition and one that could help us qualify for CL in case we win it and we don’t finish in the top four next season.
However, at least when it comes to group stage (if it’s a favourable draw), I’d love it if Klopp used it as a platform for our best young players to gain some experience (and for some seniors to shake off the rustiness).
Two things about the group stage is treat it with respect but we can experiment if needs be.
Those away games are hopefully close if not I’d send fringe sides, 4 wins is usually enough to top the group.
Newcastle have 3 very easy games
However, CL is where all the money is and is the key revenue point that can make LFC self-sustainable in the current model via marketing.
LFC is not like Man United that has a massive marketing income stream (created in the beginning of the sky generation) that only dips ever so slightly when the team fail to make CL for 3 seasons.
2 or 3 seasons in UEL for us will probably mean the heavily incentive-based deal LFC have with Nike will show reduced revenue to the club ( due to lesser casual football fans buying merchandises) and they might probably look to find other clubs to sponsor once the current deal ends.
We can always have development while having CL places. Those are not mutually exclusive.
Maybe it’s going to be us to drop points on Monday already but it’s football. It’s end of the season and we’ve seen it all in the game already.
United’s opponents have nothing to play for.
But Newcastle play Brighton and Leicester.
And Chelsea are unbeaten in their last two matches
My logic:
Arsenal beats Brighton to put some pressure on them to not fuck up the third game in a row (Newcastle would be next).
We beat Leicester to put even more pressure on them so that they have to get something against Newcaste.
City thrashes Chelsea and then hopefully they get their shit together against ManU/Newcastle
Surely it’s the hope that’s going to kill me
Thank the lord & Jesus savior christ.
If it’s to be the Europa league, at least that’s a worth while competition with some actual big teams that compete to win it, plus we could do with getting 1 over on Sevilla.
They will unlikely be in it unless they are knocked out of the CL in the group stages, with little chance in the league and qualification for the CL only available through the Europa.
There is that route also back in.
That’s usually what they do anyway , specialists in fa…getting knocked out the CL groups & going on to win the EL.
On a side note so much for Spurs Newcastle & Milan eh Matty.
This is how I see it going last few weeks…
Bournemouth - Draw
Chelsea - Draw
Fulham - Win
And we win our last 3 ahhh who am I kidding, it’s all fairy tale…but maybe it’s not. Maybe God decides he’s a red for the last few weeks of the season…maybe the devil is real and we chose to pick a fight with him and he ends up sticking his trident in our backs.
Yup I just saw the Milan score, well at least it was ruined early.
I should have put some on Spezia
