He also got yellow carded for moaning about them
Unless they lose Rodri and Bernardo Silva again at the same time (if Iām not mistaken, neither played in those matches they lost), I can see them going on one of their trademark soulsapping winning runs. And itās not like their players get injured all the time.
My granny would do well at Celtic.
She did didnāt she? Brenda something I think - won a treble.
City are on 27 points out of possible 33.
For the first half of the season they are yet to play away against Chelsea and Villa and at home against us and Spurs. Doubt theyāll will them all.
Our draw on matchday 1 can happen. Weāve overestimated Chelsea after all the players they brought in.
vs Spurs weāve got screwed. Not in our hands.
Still felt the effects of that against Brighton. No Gakpo, Curtis, Diogo but should still have won.
The Luton one is disappointing imo. No excuse.
We have a problem on the road since last season and if we can not win (let alone perform) against Luton how are we going to perform back to back away against Sheffield and Palace.
That from Udogie last night were possibly the worst or dumbest two yellow cards Iāve seen in a long time. Also, I donāt mind anything Ange said (at least from what I heard). He said he doesnāt like VAR also after the game against us. Itās logical and natural that people will moan more when itās about them compared to others. Crazy game, Spurs also did pretty well for periods, considering all the circumstances. Both teams can take positives out of the game and both teams showed certain naivety also.
Itās the Luton-type results we need to stamp out to have a chance.
Putting aside all external factors/circumstances, there are two teams that can win this league, and we are one of 'em.
Have a feeling that dropping points to fucking Luton will end up haunting us at the end of the season.
That year they got only 2 points from their last 4 games and ended up 3rd
The reaction to this game has been both mad yet predictable. Spurs fans are largely absolving their side from naively and irresponsibly putting them in a position to deservedly be down to 9. They are treating them like a group now battle proven for rising up against the odds and bravely fighting out a good performance that they were unlucky to lose, essentially just borrowing our talking points. Yet they were awful once down to 9. If not against a side so bereft of confidence in front of goal they would have conceded 10. They were all over the shop and learned nothing. Yet off they go saying if not for VAR theyād have got something out of the gameā¦VAR was responsible for keeping Romero and Udogie on the pitch when it otherwise might (should?) have seen them sent off (probably right on the first, very very bordering on the second). It was right on all the offsides, but most were caught in real time by the lino. In fact the only one VAR I think that VAR had to call out was the one that saved them a goal (Caicedoās) and while it then awarded a penalty against them there is no real controversy over that.
I had to laugh at how long it took VAR to rule out Eric Dierās goal, when it was clearly offside. Itās a shame they didnāt show the same diligence with the Luis Diaz incident.
I expect that that was clearly down to determining if the defender on the header had made any contact with the ball. You didnāt need VAT to judge Dierās position.
Yet they persisted drawing the lines and showing it to everyone.
Yeah I have no idea what they thought was tight about that one, but the commentary we had was relaying the perspective they were hearing from the VAR booth that it was going to be, hence them being very careful
Fans do need to come to some coherent idea of what they want out of VAR though. The more scope you want it to have to overrule a ref the more interventions there will be and the more stoppages. The more diligent you want it to be the longer the reviews will take. And for all the legit screw ups VAR makes it constantly gets it in the ear from fans for not intervening enough and making too many stoppages. For not just getting on with it and restarting the game and for missing something that was decided by really small margins.
Could it be related to the number of incidents in the game - as they see more and more it opens up greater scrutiny of each individual decision?
Leaving aside the LFC perspective, I think that is the really damaging element of the Diaz failure. As fans, we can have different preferences on the nature of the missed calls we can accept versus the number and duration of the VAR stoppages. Different points on the curve, so to speak. But with the Diaz failure, VAR is simply not delivering any point on that curve.
Whatās interesting about last night with all the complaints about VAR is how little of an impact it had on the decisions. From what I can tell all the goals that were ruled out for offside were actually correctly flagged by the assistant meaning that VAR was used only to confirm the decision on the pitch not over rule it. Itās really only the Romero red/penalty that VAR impacted, and given how clear that was and how understandable it is the officials would miss it given the rest of the activity, this seems like exactly what VAR was brought in to address.
Maybe that was the problem that it didnāt get involved sooner than it couldāve. It potentially couldāve/shouldāve called the ref over for the earlier challenge/kick out on the 2 players that eventually were sent off.
Maybe, but that is 180 degree turn from the Spurs complaints.
Not going all Thomas Tuchel on me now are ya Limie?
When they showed the replay of the Romero red on the big screen, there were a lot inside who were outragedā¦ā¦not the kinda outrage Jones got for his, outraged he couldāve possibly seen a red for that. Football fans are some of the most incredible people in the world.
I guess it was unavoidable, dumb and dumber is in charge Sunday. We have not seen Tierney this season, letās hope it is the first and last time ā¦
Liverpool vs Brentford
