Premier League 2024/25 (Part 1)

They weren’t talking about the Emptihad anyway.

And pretty much all of them are better than the current PGMOL dross

Definitely. It’s one of the things I really envy about our central European cousins. I really wish I was taught another European language at an early age.

In my case the interest in English does not come from school ( French was the first foreign language in my area anyway ) in the first place but from your bands/music. I grew up with the red and blue double albums by the Beatles my parents had. So English was always around and when it was taught at school it was kind of familiar.

I can live with the 3-1 result.

Manchester “we’re only 11 points off top 4” United

They’re only 6 points behind City at the halfway point of the season… that’s progress!

Rushing to make a decision and move on worked so well in the Díaz incident, after all.

This is just an ignorant meme mainly trotted out by people who are A not Scousers and B not even English. There was a Dutch guy on here who used to bang on about it and even said with great authority that Rotherham was in Greater Manchester.

Greater Manchester is an artificially created administrative area that includes big chunks of Lancashire. People in those towns do not identify as Mancunians and parts of it is closer to Liverpool so no doubt at least as many Everton and Liverpool fans as fans of the Manchester clubs. Stand at the Rocket and see how many cars come down the M62 on match days trailing Liverpool scarves

If I had to choose one ref to do all our games it would be Anthony Taylor, the bete noir of the manc hating brigade, but for me the best of the bunch. He is hated by City and United fans so that is one very good recommendation.

And you were doing so well…

A rival is a rival. Proximity is not the issue here. Evertonians are also scousers but they don’t particularly like LFC.
Coote literally said on video he doesn’t like us.

Unless Arsenal win tonight, then it goes to 12 points behind Forrest

Watch Saka trot out like nothing happened tonight.

They will beat Ipswich without him but I genuinely expect him to miraculously recover from his latest season-ending injury, only to be subbed off in the second half, subsequently starting the very next game. Rinse and repeat.

Yeah it was all fine back before technology when Man Utd were winning….

Hmm, I think some rose tinted glasses need to be removed. You probably like the 70s/80s because we were winning.

Money is the issue here. I’d keep VAR especially with semi automated which should cut down the waste of time but get rid of it for everything else.

Only reason some of these decisions go to VAR because they are shit decisions on the field.

Last night is a classic case in point. In real time you could see that Salah was marginally on and Nunez looked marginally off. So check the one that looks off and that saves you the time. If Nunez was judged on then go to the Salah one.

Though I could have told you it was off on Nunez within 10 seconds of the replays.

The biggest issue now with VAR and offside is its now taken this section out the rule book If a player is exactly level with the second-to-last defender, they are considered onside . Id be very interested to know how many pixels Nunez was actually offside and the considerable goals ruled out which are even tighter. VAR was introduced to get rid of the ridiculous offsides Sterling against City a few years ago when he was clearly on not ruling a goal out because someones sleeve is offside.

Our version of VAR with the manually placed pixels does have the capacity to mark a forward as level. They tweaked the thickness of the lines about 2 seasons ago to increase the potential for them to overlap, determining the forward as level. For all the advantages in speed and clarity of the presented images that the semi autonomous systems have, they take this increased margin of error out of consideration bringing back these offside decisions where the difference is imperceptible to the eye.

You would have thought that of all Arsenal forwards of this to have been true of, it would have been their 9…
