Interesting. The last few days there has been a couple of forwards in the Prem linked with a move to Forest this window. I wonder if that is linked.
Maybe they want another forward regardless. Woodâs not the youngest and they might have European football next season.
West Ham have let Steidten go, their Technical Director. It was a weird tenure. He brought in some really good players, but had a terrible relationship with Moyes and then Lopetegui, and Potter brought in someone with him who was earmarked to do this role.
Perhaps this was the reason for the delay in Potter taking over from LopeteguiâŚit is interesting given how Steidtenâs arrival was meant to lead to a more effective transfer policy but instead has seen it become a mess with that breakdown with successive coaches?
Not sure how much of it was his fault but understandable why Potter might only commit if he had his own man in there.
The United Way!
It seems a bit of an example of teams trying to adopt a more modern distributed leadership model but not really committing to it. A manager coming in and bringing with them their own DoF is basically an old fashioned manager led hierarchy but with the chief scout given a grander title.
Yes, particularly with the fight with Moyes over players much like we saw with Brendan and our recruitment team having such a gulf in preferences on signings and see the incoming players being âdivvied upâ rather than leadership come down firmly on one side.
But I think in Potterâs case he can rightly feel peeved at the way he was treated at Chelsea. Having his own man there gives him some security for what could be his most important job.
Didnât Chelsea bring in half of Brightonâs back room team in before they appointed Potter.
Probably needed them because of the two bus loads of players Boehly was planning to buy.
I forgot they brought in Paul Winstanley on the recruitment side before he joined and later brought in Sam Jewell.
To me itâs just storing up trouble if it all goes pot.
Nuno won manager of the month so thatâs hopefully them fucked tomorrow
Hang on, that prepubescent Damon Albarn looking fella is the player people here want to buy? He looks like heâs 10
19 and 6â5â. Has shown good maturity, and that he is not fazed by the PL level of play. Get him now, or the price will be astronomical, and probably have to fight off all the other big clubs as well.
We were linked with him over the summer, too. He wonât be cheap, though, now that heâs âPremier League provenâ.
Bonus points for spelling âfazedâ properly, by the way. So many people put âphasedâ instead.
Sike
I guess all that money spent on a MA in English was actually good for something!
I thought it was the left back we were interested in
Interesting XI for Arsenal. Saliba is back, which is exactly the sort of overly aggressive approach that can turn a minor abdominal strain into a long term issue. Seems risky given the opponents and given the only strength they have on the bench is at the back. Norwegian Martin was sent home ill so heâs drafted Nwaneri back into the side, giving them what looks like 4 forwards, unless they have dropped Havertz back into his old midfield role. They have absolutely nothing on the bench (that acknowledges Sterling is on the bench)
