At the very worst, it comes off the middle where the shoulder point meets the elbow point. I don’t know if there’s some rule change but it’s a very 50/50 call. Every Newcastle player could see the goal clearly and none of them appealed.

The call on the disallowed goal was close. Not sure why Coote didn’t go to the monitor though. Joelinton? Straight red, no doubt. Coote working matches in SA?
The rationale is handball is factual there doesn’t need the ref to confirm at the monitor. But it is surely subjective determining if the location of contact with the arm counts as handball so seems wrong that var could make that call for the ref
Yeah, from the replays, it looked shoulder, or maybe just below. Difficult to overturn an onfield decision without clear handling. Maybe they had a better angle than we got on tele.
Seemed to hit on the PL badge which at least used to be given as the threshold for the shoulder so there or above was legal.
We have had a very nice start now. 6 points in the two first, despite not top opposition, is pretty important and gives Arne some breathing room to settle both team, formations and get to know his players properly.
