I care FIRST about understanding why we dropped off so precipitously after a few months of winning the league and playing brilliantly; then taking it from there, whether that be getting a new manager or continuing with the current one.
Keeping the manager doesn’t necessarily mean doing the same thing. The key issue is correcting what went wrong, be it with a new or the same manager…
Thankfully we have smart people running the club…
I can’t express how much I fucking detest Everton. The times we wanted them to take points off City and every time they bent over like the fucking small-time cunts they are.
They are fucking rotten and corrupt to the core but spend their entire lives cry-arsing about how everyone’s out to get them when with any justice they’d have been flushed years ago like the fucking stinking big turd they are.
Every fucking one of the cunts deserves the 30 odd years of misery they’ve had.
In all honesty, in 2022, they were really close to taking crucial points off them but for referee’s inexplicable call to not award a penalty against Rodri for a blatant handball. But, yeah, other than that, they’ve done their best to make sure we didn’t win there either.
There is nothing inexplicable about it. That was the call of a bent/corrupt official; One of the many absurd decisions in their favour that helped them rob us of 2 league titles.
They made 3 subs after the 90 minutes was up. I simply don’t understand the logic of putting subs on when you are trying to hang on for the last few minutes. The idea that it wastes time is nonsensical because it just gives the officials the justification for adding even more time. It has cost us this season on a few occasions.
We had a brilliant first half of the season, maybe two thirds, but performances dropped off around the middle of February and never recovered. We still won the league but that form in the second half of the season has carried over.
We are now on course for a points total that wouldn’t have even got us into the Conference League last season.
We beat City away and Newcastle in Feb with two very impressive performances right before the break for internationals and the league cup final, during which the PSG tie was also played. From that point forward, the start of March, we had probably only two good performances for the rest of the season, Spurs the day we won the title and PSG in the second leg in a losing effort. That is nearly 3 full months.
There were lots of reasonable explanations put forward to explain away without concern what had happened back then - the pressure of trying to get over the line, the season being effectively over the PSG loss knowing it was going to take a monumental collapse to not win the title. But as some of us started pointing out as early as September, this season continued on in that manner. The amount of time this team purred under Slot is now under half the amount of time its looked off colour or outright bad.
I think the drop off is often overstated. When you dissect it properly it came down to two games: PSG in Paris and the Moose cup final…
We didn’t have a brilliant half season. We had a brilliant season in 2024/25 period…
We are having a miserable 25/26 season, period. There’s no need to undermine what we did last season in order to make the point about our current failures.
