Premier League 2026/27

I think that was genuinely a more interesting era. ManU ascendant, but not in the way that ManC simply steamrolled the league year after year in the following decade - with both Chelsea and Arsenal winning multiple titles in that decade, the title races were less frequently processional affairs, and there were several seasons where there was a legitimate 3-horse race deep into the new year.

I have been “annoyed” since Souness brought in all those Scandinavians plus others…when there were plenty of better British lads. I never understood that plus I was very “annoyed” after Heysel. I gave up my ticket and vowed never to go back to Anfield and I haven’t. Yes, I still watch Liverpool games but not nearly as emotionally invested in it as I really can’t relate to the team as I did when half the team were fellow scousers and we regularly took on the rest of Europe and beat them.

I read someone on here recently refer to our “roster” for the coming season. That pretty much sums up what the PL has become, a product akin to those obscure American sports. How long before we are officially a “franchise”?

I don’t really know if the refereeing was better then or not, but in any case, it’s bad today. :joy:

Right after he shipped all the English players to Scotland, although in fairness there weren’t better Scottish alternatives

Same.
Hope we do well this season, be overjoyed if we win the league or CL, but it’ll just be a resigned shrug of the shoulders if we win fuck all

I am really excited to see how the PL will be calling obstruction on corner kicks for the first three weeks or the first call against Arsenal, whichever comes first.

Same, but I might substitute excited with mildly curious

Ahh the annual “Chelsea signed loads of players so they are going to be great!” predictions.

The best thing about the focus on dealing with set pieces is they explicitly call out dealing with situations where a defending player isn’t even looking at the ball. That will cut down on a LOAD of it. But its also bizzare that it has to be explicitly called out as something new to address

nah, im serious.

thats the era i fell in love with, i understand it had massive underlying issues, but i still found that era of football (everywhere) just a more interesting prospect.

it starts with boots with flappy tounges…and just keeps getting better…

I am not sold on how high Arsenal’s ceiling is, but their depth is outrageous.

Today their bench is Dowman, Eze, Madueke, Gyokeres, Zubi, Nwaneri, Hincapie, Merino and that is without Bruno, Saliba, and Timber being unavailable.

Bit of a risky way to catch that by Rushworth but would have had a quick release but no one was there for that.

How long did it take me to lose interest in this game? About 13 mins. Fuck this nonsense

It is going to be a long season for Coventry if they give away charity like that

Yeah I think I’ll put the Spanish game on

Im going back to work

That one was not quite as terrible as it looked, keeper had to make a play on the ball but when he did he cut his defenders out.

This will be a hiding at this rate, losing interest due to the commentary as much as the one-sided play. PL opener for a promoted side at the defending champions, two goals don’t make Arsenal a dynasty.

There will be several teams as poor as Coventry this season…

They won’t even score another to spite me as I have 3 goals plus on it.

It has begun !
A shame Arsenal is looking so good, but hopefully that will pass.

(Note: I am in Portugal and I am not watching football at all this week, so I don’t actually know, apart from reading match reports). But it will be exciting to “read about” how we do in our first match
