Premier League 2026/27

I think Arsenal will walk the league this season and if someone offered us 3rd place now, I’d bite their hand off. I just don’t believe our squad is anywhere near ready for the new season.

Nice of Thomas Hitzlsperger as the only one not to have City in the top 4.

I reckon based on that we might win it

I haven’t seen the rumours around Martinez and Konsa. Who wants to take them?

Also, Ollie Watkins has agreed personal terms with Al-Hilal. They’re losing a lot of experienced players.

That is so depressing…an english lad in his prime.

I was talking to my nephew recently and he told me he stopped watching LFC and other PL games some years ago in favour of watching local non league football and I will definitely be reducing my aimless viewing this season. Paying £100 million plus for foreign mercenaries is so depressing. I hate what the PL has become.

If Amazon start pouring their billions in I will be done with it. I long ago stopped investing huge emotions in my football club but that will be the final straw.

Konsa to Arsenal, apparently. Not sure about Martinez, he was linked with Juve for months, but then it didn’t happen. Villa seem to have signed a new starting goalie, Zion Suzuki. Looked good in the World cup.

Foreign mercenaries lol.

Started 35 years ago and now you’re getting annoyed?

England has won shit in 60 years. The only reason why English football is relevant is because foreigners helped making the PL the best and most important league in the world.

I actually think it’s just people generally switch off over time.

I’ve had periods where I couldn’t be arsed. Sad thing was with Slot is I couldn’t switch off like I had under Hodgson and Rodgers.

I really enjoy watching football league anyhow.

nope. disagree strongly.

in some ways English footy from the eighties was even more enticing than the product now… just the whole package in general

35 years isnt the 80’s

Red tinted glasses because Liverpool regularly won the League until 1990 and won 4 CL Titles until 1984. After that I think it was 15 years no CL and no UEFA Cup wins for English football.

So mid 90s must have felt great for English football. 30 years no trophies for your national team. 15 years no international trophies in club football.

So does anyone wonder why English teams started buying more and more foreign players after that?

You know he’s Australian right?

No. How should I know? Now I know.

But we’re talking about the English football. So doesn’t really matter.

Fach…

You’re having a laugh, surely. Decrepit stadiums, hooligans, racism, stadium disasters. Those were the Liverpool heydays no doubt but seriously?

Yeah, fully agree with that. Nowaday’s PL is an artificial, overblown construct. A consumer good, and not much more than that. Way too much money in it, way too many irregularities (ie. Cheaty’s 150 charges running since years), distortions, and bad refereeing. The PL isn’t by any means the best league in Europe, never mind in the world.

I wouldn’t disagree, but I am old enough to have seen Clive Thomas at work.
