Racism and all the bad -isms

It’s not sound if it ignores everything else I’ve already said in the thread. I even already made those points about Clarkson.

But by all means everyone carry on skipping the start of the discussion, ignoring half of what’s been said and arguing against points which weren’t being made.

Bit ironic posting a hateful rant “comedy” in a discussion about a hateful rant in a “newspaper column”

There are so many of those types who say hateful things and then hide behind personas and ‘just joking’ etc.

The fact is that there is just too much hatred in the world and it’s being perpetuated by people like Clarkson on both sides of the political spectrum.

The thing is that there is comic potential in people hating a woman who has nothing to do with them and little if any impact on their lives but the joke is on those doing the hating.

I haven’t read the Clarkson article other than the extract that was in other news outlets (I won’t go anywhere near the S*n). From what I can see he is missing the target entirely. Hating an innocent woman more than a convicted serial killer is ridiculous. Hating someone at a cellular level is comically insane.

There is a funny article in there but he has been clearly been told to write it as a first person hate piece. Any serious comic journalist would have told the editor where to stick it. It makes him look bad and feeds the trolls.

The thing is that this will be unlikely to hurt Clarkson or the editors who commission this crap. TBH I have no comprehension of what the hatred for Harry and Megan is. However editors know this sells their ersatz bog roll so they will keep on doing it.

I think this might have gone over your head a bit:joy:

It’s just a joke, isn’t it. Like on Top Gear.

That’s the whole point of it. He’s taking the approach that Top Gear takes - say something horribly offensive and distasteful, then claiming it’s just a joke - and satirising it.

I fucking HATE this guy. Just thought I’d point that out. He’s James O’Brian with less comedic talent. [/quote]

I know you hate him. I love that you hate him. People like you are supposed to hate him. I be be devastated if you thought he was good. He’s actually brilliant.

Clarkson, by a mile. Don’t see why that’s relevant.

Fighting hate with hate :+1:
Or does he really beleive what he’s saying.

I’ve been aware of Stewart Lee for years and can’t really say I’m a fan of his.

Who earns more, Kanye West or the Dalai Lama?

Fuck me; you lot are so fucking stupid.

Financial wealth is the only way to measure a person’s merit.

And cock size, well known fact.

You’re absolutely guilty of some kind of *isty ism here for sure.

Guy’s a genius, I’d almost have him round for dinner.

The one who works for a living not the one who begs?

Does that apply to the Windsors?

Ok, but not as funny as the real thing

Once again, sane and sensible from Colin. Is this supposed to be funny? Seems like a documentary series on the problems facing woke Britain to me.

No he doesn’t believe what he’s saying. That is the whole point - that you’ve entirely missed.

That bit at the end - where he stares into the camera and explains to anyone who doesn’t get it, that he obviously doesn’t believe those things, and he is adopting the rhetoric and values at Top Gear to satirise the rhetoric and values of Top Gear - that is there for you. And Jan Moir of the Daily Mail.

I mean, I would have thought it was obvious at …and if you think it’s a bit much to wish someone died in a car crash and their head rolled off on fire past their family, remember - it’s just a joke, like on Top Gear.

Woke Britain. Where white, middle-aged straight men used to stomping through life able to say whatever they like with out any consequence to their hateful opinions, find they can’t have it all their own way anymore. Just mostly their own way. Which make them the most marginalised blah blah blah.

I like Clarkson the presenter, but his comments were over the top, unnecessary and cruel.

I am aghast though at the bandwagon jumpers calling his comments racist or misogynist.

Where is the evidence that he said what he said “because” she’s of colour or a female?

The point you seem to be missing is that someone could believe what he is saying or take it out of context and act on it.

The same as Clarksons column.

Media people saying things to get money and reactions, what a surprise.
