Racism and all the bad -isms

This has already been done, but it’s a case of man with history of racist and misogynistic
opinion fantasises about cruel and degrading attack on woman of colour.

Sure he might not have been having one of his bigoted moments, but it’s not like it would be out of character.

Personally I think a lot of the flak that MM gets is because she represents a perceived threat to the establishment, which will always close ranks to protect itself. And a big reason why she has become a threat to the establishment is because when she was part of it, she found a racist organisation that did not like her bring part of it.

There is a world of difference between the immense care Stewart Lee takes with his stand up to provide enough scaffolding so it’s clear that a routine is meant to be taken ironically, and Jeremy Clarkson blurting out a racist comment on Top Gear or in the Sun.

So, conclusions then?

The conclusion appears to be that it’s not important to determine if something is racist or sexist even though that approach massively undermines attempts to call out actual racism or sexism.

If everything critical said about a woman of colour is sexist and racist then they are then above criticism. Which means down the line when Badenoch or Braverman are being problematic, valid criticism will be restrained for fear of accusations of such.

Well, you’ve nailed it. The very definition of racism:

prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism by an individual, community, or institution against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized.

Yeah, he seems to hate white middle aged men for being white, men and middle aged.

I don’t think anyone here has said that they hate straight, white, middle-aged men.

The point is that a lot of the latter appear to be unaware of the advantages they have over others.

You missed straight…

It was irony, I said seems cos straight white middle aged men is all he bangs on about.

Sorry about that. I don’t hate straight men, honest.

You know, in some ways I think middle aged white men are the most oppressed group in society.

And by ‘in some ways’, I mean in their fucking dreams.

Some of my best friends are white, middle aged straight men.

Although, now I think about it, I do actually hate them.

I’m just fucking gutted I’ve recently become a white, middle-aged, straight man, and found that no sooner did I turn 40 the world decided it would be better not run exclusively for my benefit.

Woah. Can I still vote on this?

Poor fuckers can’t even get a job playing an elf or a dwarf anymore

Such a tragedy, they’re so oppressed!

So to be clear on this, can you answer a simple question please. Do you consider your use of the term “people like you” at me based on my ethnicity racist? Yes or no will do. But we both know how you love answering straight questions. Or should they be hetro questions?

The assumption that ‘you people’ refers to you ethnicity is your first mistake. I was referring to your right-wing political stance.

Also I feel entitled to make a few gentle jokey references to middle aged white men, as I am in fact a middle aged white man.

Nothing to see anyway, even the police can’t be arsed when it suits(surprise surprise)

Edited to add
They should investigate the rag at every opportunity.

But by definition you’re lumping me in with another group and criticising me accordingly. No? Based (as you said) on my white middle aged ness.

Er…No. I was referring to your political beliefs. The white, middle-aged stuff hadn’t happened yet.

I posted a Stewart Lee clip. You said you hate him. I said good - people like you are supposed to.

The conclusion that I’m referring to your race (which is also my race too) is entirely yours.

Shall we move on?
