Did not think he was that bad today.
thats probably worse
he keeps flirting with being the player we know he can beā¦without actually being the player we know he can be.
Seen some brilliant performances from him over the last couple of seasons but my God he has been poor for a while now.
His game was all about making us tick up top and creating the spaces that Mo and Mane need to operate in by pulling defenders out of position.
Well he aināt doing that now, firstly because he is playing too deep, secondly the irritating casual play has him losing the ball repeatedly.
Looking at our front 3, Mane and Salah stay wide, Firmino is deep, so opposition CBs never look troubled; doesnāt help we donāt have any midfield runners getting in to dangerous positions either.
Agree that maybe we should try and play Mane and Salah as a 2 up top until Jota returns otherwise I dont see who else we can pick in our current set up.
I was just coming to this thread to post more less the same thing. Stick another body in midfield, Ox or maybe Naby and play Sadio and Mo as a front two. Or stick Kabak in at the back and move Hendo into the engine room leaving Bobby out.
Agree, the shot he had in first half was similar to Fodens but their Keeper saved.
Itās true that at 29 heās coming to the end of his most productive phase, but itās hardly true to say heās been rubbish. Interestingly, last season (when we won the title) both he and Mo had career Liverpool lows in goals scored. Sadio carried the water that Mo has mostly carried this year. I agree that the lineup of those three up top may be past its heydey. Needs an infusion of some type.
He still does an awful lot of dirty work for a forward. When I commented in the match thread he was having a good day, I was referring to that. He was actually one of our better players on the day. In fact, itās hard to point to a player who was abject , outside of Alisson.
He was shit again, 1 volley doesnāt make a match and heās been very poor for far to long. Sorry patience has worn out!
With all due respect, I donāt think you see all he does for our team. Scoring goals was never his big thing, not in Germany, not with us or when he plays for Brazil. IMHO our biggest problem is that ManĆ© stopped scoring goals, Jotaās injury, our midfield is dry scoring goals and that we miss van Dijk as a force with corners.
Firmino is not a problem.
Never mentionned goals, heās just been shit for us. Loses the ball too easily spends ages to turn when he doesnāt even need to passes are too soft, pathetic. Useless defensively, can not tackle just jumps in the air like an ice skater the wrong side of the player in posession doesnāt bother tracking back leaving overloads. Really have you been watching hime the last 2 years. Whatās worst is him loosing the ball cheaply which always leads to frightening opposition counter attacks as he cougjhs up the ball in such a way. Iāve had enough of it!
Could not disagree with you more but you are intelted on your opinion.
Thankyou your honor.
Foden was about 10 yards closer
Itās really frustrating, promising attacks just seem to break down whenever the ball makes its way to him these days. Heāll get tackled, misplace his pass so itās intercepted or have a stab at it.
@ILLOK ā¦
But straight at keeper.
So was Fodens, but he was that close couldnāt react so no comparisons in shots
Apart from both straight at keepers.
There was a time when people said Firmino is a genius and the man who makes Liverpool tick.
He looks a shadow of the player he was 12 month ago. Finding the gaps, the clever little balls, the hunting down the opposition defenders with the ball. It has all gone.
At this point in time he offers very little. We talk about creativity from midfield, but we never had that. The guy who opened up defenses was Firminoā¦and he is no longer offering that.
Couldnāt finish his dinner. Absolute shite.
Hard to believe heās made it at this level without being able to kick a football.
Unless itās a header or a tap in heās got no chance.
My favourite player of this āeraā has become the elephant in the room.
